Hi Biobased
Have you looked into using the prescription 50mg tablets of Naltrexone and disolving it in water and then taking divided liquid doses: eg 1 x 50 mg tablet = 11 x 4.5 mg doses (plus 0.5mg but I wouldn't worry about that extra small amount in solution) Add the tablet to 110mg water (= 11 x 10ml liquid doses). There is lots of information on the LDN sites about measuring and storing. This method would make it very cost effective - and your insurance might cover the prescription. BTW - I ended up having to stop my LDN trial (re our previous discussion on LDN) - it became obvious that the LDN was suppressing my cortisol levels and as I no longer make any cortisol naturally this was an unsafe risk. I did further research and although there is little academic information on the effect of either Naltrexone or LDN on cortisol levels I did come across several articles where the effect had been observed and tested in clinical situations. This could explain why some people do not do well on LDN - if their adrenal function (ie cortisol production) is already compromised then LDN could make it worse. I still feel trialing it was worthwhile - how else was I to find out if it might help? I'm pleased that so many are receiving benefit from it and that more research is being done for it's use in specific conditions. |
My doctor would not give me the whole pill which was unfortunate, because it is incredibly easy to mix LDN. Easier than mixing a cake mix.
The cheapest supplier is Belmar in CO. A 4.5mg 90 day supply is 49.00 free shipping. Still too high considering I am paying for supplemental drug coverage every month and not using it. I am most likely going to use this provider. That is very interesting information on LDN and cortisol. I never heard of this, but now that you have posted about it I will investigate. Thank you for posting. |

I think my mood is better now than before I started, pain is a little better around my shoulder (CRPS started after rotator cuff surgery). I don't notice the pain very much during the day, but at night I do especially under my armpit. I also used DMSO 50 percent on my hand for two weeks 1/2 teaspoon twice a day and my hand is now pain free but my fingers are still swollen and somewhat stiff. Before the palm of my hand was very painful. I am able to use my hand because I constantly exercise it. Exercise is terribly important and I am still doing PT six months since surgery. I stopped using DMSO because my hand started burning after application and the tops of my fingers had a flaky look. This cleared up right away after stopping the use of the DMSO. I wish you luck with your use of LDN. |
Quick question
just wondering does LDN work for both CRPS1 and CRPS 2?
