Default Hi Dawn,

My arm looked like that awhile back and it finally healed up but I am getting those places again plus my skin is thin. Monday I hit the side of a counter in the bathroom and ripped a layer of my skin back on my right arm. Do you have the thin skin also?

Does yours ever heal up? Mine does as I said for awhile but then it will get back that way again.

Ada

Oh Roz!!
These look awful hun!! My goodness!! do they itch? when did you first notice these?? I had the red part after I had my carpal tunnal surgery and the surgeon said I was allergic to the dye he put on during the operation, so he gave me some of those (dang, I forgot the name?? it has something to do with non steroids or something??(pills) It helped me in a week, itched, I had the purple look too, but it was from itching to much. How long have you had this?? ((Hugs Roz)) Love ya! Desi

Hi Roz,

That looks very much like a subcutaneous bleed, they are common in people on steroids and some other meds which cause considerable fragility of the tiny vessels just under the skin. Sometimes even a tight sleeve or a softy knock can cause this to happen.
I do know that subcutaneous bleeding can be a symptom of RSD--I wonder whether it is the disease or the treatment? It is one of those "chicken or the egg" scenarios.
I do know that much care needs to be taken to prevent tearing of the skin above the haematoma as a non healing wound may well be the horrible outcome (speaking from experience here)
Please take care, I guess wrapping yourself in cotton wool is out of the question??I feel as though we do need to do that sometimes
Please look after yourself
Tayla
