Mark, I just want to say how very angry I am on account of your not being reconized with RSD!! I think it's time we do be reconized by stupid people that don't bother to listen or educate themselves with what we go through! Write to your congressman maybe?? Oh, and Mark, please don't quit now, as this will mean they win.. You are the winner here, my friend! Love, Desi

Hello,
Sorry about your trouble with your permit. In the city I live in the criteria for being granted one are very specific to one's ability to ambulate. You are supposed to be needing some type of aid such as crutches, cane, wheelchair to enable you to access the permit. Our GP must write a very lengthy report as to why it is necessary to require a space close to the building. I must admit though, when I see some of the people jumping in and out of their cars which are displaying permits I am sure they are "borrowed" from granny.:( Something that does amuse me though is I often see people using these parks yet they go into the shopping centre and walk around and around for hours on end---I have to ask "why do they then need to park near the door"? Tayla:hug: |
Mark,
I live in MA too. This state could care less about those of us with health issues. My Doc did not put dowm RSD. He put mostly that if I fell it would cause major problems and that my condition will not improve ever. Keep trying, I know its hard don't give up.Try to see your state rep. in your area. Go right to the office. Richard Neal helped me alot. Good Luck. also e-mail the Gov. He seems to care a little more than the last one. Sue K. |
Hi Mark,
I agree with most who have posted here. I also talked with my MD about getting a temporary handicapped card. He agreed that I don't fit the requirements. Specifics like - not being able to talk more than 200ft without stopping, heart, lung issues, using a cane, crutches, etc. I really need it for work - specifically in the winter. I'm in horrible pain in the winter. But, I don't meet their specific disabilities. If I were you, I would resubmit the request but call them beforehand - get a person who you can direct this request to. Talk to that person and explain - reiterating that your doctor agrees that you need this. Send the form directly to that person. Just a thought.... I'm sorry that they are being such D!cks.... |
I Will!!!!
You guys are right. I shouldn't just give up. I have never been a quitter before so I shouldn't start now. It's just that I am so dang tired! It seems to be a constant in this state. I am always haven to explain myself indepth to folks and they still look at me like deer in headlights.
Well I will go forth with the paperwork and see what happens next. Just to clarify things.. On the original forms, my doc had explained what RSD was and that I needed the use of a cain. This is what is so frustrating. Those Pinheads in Boston should simply accept that. Who are they to question a medical pro? My DMV is quite a jont from where I live so that is why I mailed it in the first time, but I won't make that same mistake the second time. Thanks for the kick in the butt!!!! :D I will keep you posted!!! Chin Up! Lotsa Love Mark :grouphug: :grouphug: |
Go for it Mark... I get so upset with the whole Disabled Badge thing. I have had such a time with dealing with idiots and it.
About 10 years ago in the UK you could walk into your local social services and say "I have xxxx give me a badge" and even if you only had it in your fingers then you got it. Then... the laws got much stricter... You only get the badge if: you receive the higher rate of the mobility component of the Disability Living Allowance; you receive a War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement; you use a motor vehicle supplied for disabled people by a Government Health Department; you are registered blind; you have a severe disability in both upper limbs, regularly drive a motor vehicle but cannot turn the steering wheel of a motor vehicle by hand even if that wheel is fitted with a turning knob; or you have a permanent and substantial disability which means you are unable to walk or have very considerable difficulty in walking. The walking one... you cannot walk for more than 100m before resting and pain becoming overwhelming. bizzare.. though I do go mad when people who don't need them get them. Go get em Mark!!!! xxxxxx |
