I agree with Jo*mar in that it largely depends and that you can't just up and make generalized statements.
Personally, I have not chosen an implant, because I did not want to go that route, but that doesn't mean the devices are necessarily all bad. Some people get relief from them, even though others don't. You have to make the choice for yourself though, and do plenty of research. It is a tough decision, for sure!
