Hi Truth, glad to meet ya but sorry it has to be here. :(

Joan is absolutely right about how different all patients are, and what works for one will not work for the other. Joan seems to do better w/o narcotics, and does well with meds like Neurontin. I, on the other hand, cannot handle meds that screw with my serotonin levels, like neurontin or elavil. But I do well on the opiods like morphine and the contins. Actually, mmj (medical marijuana) works best for me, but that's a tricky road to travel on, what with all the legal issues. I live in a "Green State", yet the feds override our state laws and make the dr.s afraid to prescribe it for fear of losing their licenses.

It can be very frustrating to be an rsd patient, make sure you demand the appropriate explanations or definitions from your dr.s. Some dr.s aren't very good at talking to patients, or explaining things in detail. With a condition such as rsd, you must have those explanations so that you can do your own research and make your own decisions. YOU are your own best advocate!

Best of luck, Truth... we're here when you need us. :D

Hello and welcome, Sweetie!! I sure hope you can get some answers and help for what you are dealing with. It's not an easy monster, but with some treatments you do have chances of remission.

I hope you find help and friendship here.

Glad to meet ya. I haven't been on here very long but I can honestly tell you that this is a wonderful place to be. They have all helped me so far and will continue to be there as I try to be there for them. Again welcome!

Welcome truthone

Sorry you have to be here. There are other tablets which work better for neuropathic pain, such as the anti epileptics (I'm English and we use gabapentin/ neurontin; pregablin/ lyrica; tricyclic antidepressants such as Amytriptylene or Nortriptylene) which work differently to opiates.. so even if the oxycontin doesn't work you might get good relief from lyrica etc.

Jaquelina - didn't realise you were 21 as well! cool.

love

Hi. I'm 29 and have pn in my legs but being treated like rsd so I flip over here sometimes. I'm sorry for your pain and I have been dealing with this only for 6months but its a lot of trial and error with meds and docs for me and seems for others. One med work for one and not another.I just came back from the pc at cleveland where the head doc though some don't like there approach specialised in rsd. I do know they really focus on controlling anxiety, stress, depression and your pain. Its a lot about working on ways to cope with your pain. Good luck and take care.

Hi,
Welcome to the group. You have found the right place. Everyone here is so nice and helpful. As I have said before, just coming here makes me feel better. Iam sorry you have RSD, but remember this is the right place to be.

Sue K.
