EMG - 3 too many! I feel they are just useless, I kept getting negative results which was expected. But, if you must endure one, I say do it to keep the doctors happy then run like heck. :winky:

One of my doctors told me if I have the CTS surgery it would go into that hand, but I can barely use the hand and the pins and needles hurt so bad and I cant hold anything in that hand. I am trying to hold out.

Has anyone had an emg done and Not had a major flare? I think I'll just run away instead:D any thoughts? :grouphug:jen

JOAN_M 08-29-2007 08:40 AM

one question ... why do you really need an EMG? if there is no real reason, don't have it. joan

jennyk38 08-29-2007 09:08 AM

Hey Joan,

I don't really think I need an EMG but my pain doc thinks I should have it done because he thinks I might have something pressing against my long thoracic nerve and he suspects cervical radiculopathy....oh boy! Basically I haven't had any tests done and I think he's trying to play the rule out game! I really am scared though:eek:! I tried accupuncture last week because I had read somewhere that it could help with the constant muscle tics that I have and he inserted one of the needles in my hand and I almost died! It was really weird because my nerve in my hand where the needle was inserted started twitching so bad that the needle was actually moving around and it was extremely painful-I don't know if it was the rsd that caused it or if he just didn't put it in right but either way it was very unpleasant and now I am worried that the EMG is going to really mess with me. Anyway, I was actually scheduled to have it done last month and I chickened out and honestly, I might chicken out this time too!!!! :hug:jen

dillypooh 08-29-2007 09:38 AM

Hey Jen dont be scared. It's no more than feeling like you stuck your tongue to a nine volt battery:eek:
Naaaaaaaah just kidding. I have had so many I dont even mind them
anymore. It is not a nice vacation but it's not torture either.
It is uncomfortable but hang in there:hug:
