Have any of you ever have the suggestion of capsaiciain for your rsd... I was told by the ER doctor last night that it would hurt like hell for the first 6 weeks because it would burn and things of that nature but i would start to calm down the neurons after the 6 weeks... I havent asked my pm about it yet but it peaked my intrest?

I know several people who have used it and found it helpful and I know someone else who wasn't helped by it. It's worth giving it a try!! Off the top of my head it's all linked in with substance P etc isn't it??

Is it going to hurt because of it being the gel or is it going to hurt because of the sensitivity?

I somehow got poison ivy on my forearm a few years back and the whole area was totally free of RSD until it cleared up. Unfortunately I'm pretty immune to poison ivy and subsequent attempts to get it again have failed.

I tried the capsaisin but the relief was temporary for me and was outweighed by the discomfort. Perhaps it's worth another try.

The active ingredient in poison ivy is urushiol oil. This oil is on all parts of the plant I believe. I could have made a fortune on the oil since I had access to a substantial amount and it's not available on the market.

The RSD gets better when I get diverticulitis too. The doctor said this isn't unusual.

Some people are very sensitive to poison ivy and I wouldn't recommend intentional contact. Poison ivy can be very dangerous and there are several fatalities every year. Usually these are caused by internal exposure by breathing the fumes from fires or the like.

I haven't tried Capsaiciain cream , but two nights ago I soaked my finger joints with what I thought was peppermint oil,felt pretty good too.

the next day I did it again, and noticed what appeared to be chemical burns I was howling

I peeled off the price sticker that was covering the "warning do not aplly full strength" to be mixed with massage oils

i have used the capsacin in the cream, the gel pads, and the liquid. i have tried it both as a daily thing and during a flare. using it on a daily basis starting with a little then building up over time, it seems to help in the same way the whole applying fabric stuff. it added a lot of heat (i guess that is the point). has anyone had the pt thing where u stick your hand into a box that has warm air run through corn (i think its corn). your hand gets really hot and it is supposed to be really good for rsd. the capsacin is kind of like that. i wouldnt recommend using it when you are in a flare...it basically feels like putting a fire on the area and suffering through it with no real benifit (at least not for me).

stuck my hand in that sucker for ten minitues, and it was devine those corn husks and the hot air levatating them were simply Vundebar

yeah they put the corn box in front of the tv at my pt...i have bordom related a.d.d and they got annoyed with me throwing the little balls you play catch with at them...ok i am easily amused...what can i say i spend way to much time in pt

I wanna try this corn husk thing... It sounds great lol... The orgasmatron... Lol.... Thats a great name...I am thinking i am not sure how i feel about the capasiciain... Sounds painful!
