Heart RSD and spreading?

Hi everyone,
I went for a checkup at the pain clinic yesterday. I have been having some trouble with my left foot. (I have RSD in my right leg). I tried to tell the PA that iam feeling some of the same symptoms that I felt when the RSD started in my fight side. The spasms, sharp stabbing pain, and some mild burning. Its been going on for about 2 weeks. I've been really lucky for 8 yrs it has just stayed in my right leg. Can the RSD spread over to the left side or does it spread up the same side. The PA said its probley just a fluke. I wasn't to happy with that answer. She didn't even look at my foot. It seems that if I want to get any help, I need to come her to all of you. Thankyou.

Sue K.

Welcome Sue,

Glad to have you as part of our family but sorry it is due to RSD.

As to answer your question about spread to the opposite side, The answer is yes, It is called mirror image. Some folks get spread on one side of the body others get mirror image spread and others get no spread at all. I have mirror image spread from the right to the left foot, ankle, and lower leg.

Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions at all, someone will be along to try to assist you in any way they can. Even though some of us have medical backgroud, we give you suggestions and our own experiences. What you do is always your own decision.

Good luck and maybe you should find another doctor, just my opinion.

Hi Sue,

I hope you'll go back and read my thread titled Symptom Migration: my story; In it, I talk about delaying, if not preventing symptom migration by taking an antioxidant such as grape seed extract (GSE). I also talk about two times when I stopped taking GSE and almost immediatly developed inflammation (red, warm skin with stinging like a sunburn), which subsided when I resumed my regimen.

I'm convinced GSE can at least delay symptom migration, and will explain the science behind this in future posts, but I don't know if it can reverse the symptoms after much time has passed. I do know that if I were in your situation, I would be taking higher than recommended dosages of GSE, and would be applying another antioxidant (DMSO) to the affected skin.

I learned about the benefits of antioxidants during my research 8 or 9 years ago, and since then have not found a single report of overdose or adverse reaction to GSE. It appears to do nothing except neutralize oxygen free radicals; those mean molecules you might have heard about in commercials for some products that contain antioxidants.

It is inexpensive, and it may help after symptoms have developed. It can't hurt, and doesn't interfere with any adjuvant therapies, such as blocks, if you want to try them.

Anyway, reread the thread and decide whether you want to try it...Vic

Hi,
I have RSD in my left leg and my righ arm. My RSD spread from my leg to my arm after a recent fall. My Consultant told me and my mum it can spread to any part of your body - so yes it can spread to the other side of your body.
Hope this helps and im sorry about your problem
You are in my thoughts
