Help Need to know???

I have been on Neurontin 800 mg. three times a day (They are white oval pills that look like horse pills)! Ok, I asked to be weened off the 60 mg. of the time released morphine pills. So the doctor told me to take only 1 capsule of the morphine pill instead of two. he then told me to take 2 8oo mg. of the neurontin pills too. don't you think that I am taling too much of the neurontin medication?? When I take the 2 pills, I feel "high as a kite"! I Can't sleep, as you can see how early it is. I took this 2 800 mg. neurontion pills at 10:30 and am still up! I swear, it took me so long to type this, as I am feeling high. I don't ever want to take 2 of these again, as it is scarring me!! why wouuld he do this
Any thoughts?should I get the heck off of them?? Thanks! ~Love, Desi[/COLOR]

Hi Desi,
I was on the neurontin for awhile too. I didn't like it and it didn't do anything for me anyways. I now take Lamictal and have had no side effects. It also has worked great on the siatic nerve pain. Mabey you could ask your Doc to try something else. Just make sure you tell them what the neurontin is doing to you. Hope you fell better and get some sleep.

Love Ya

I take 900 mg of Neurontin 4 x's a day. The big white horse pills I take are 600mg of Neurontin & yup they are like horse pills........... I have been on Neurontin for years. It does help me...ALOT!! It works on the burning pain & on the 'strange' sensations I have in my feet. Sometimes they feel like they are 3 x's as big as feet really are. But it does help me out alot where all this is concerned.

I have tried other meds such as Lamactil, Gabatril, & Topamax. They all had side effects that I could NOT tolerate at all. And for you maybe Neurontin is a med you can't tolerate. Alot of people on this forum can not take it.
"Different strokes for different folks."

I hope they can find something that works for you soon.

Heart Hi Desi

Desi,
I am so sorry about what you are going through ((hugs)). I would talk to your doctor about how you feel after you take the Neurontin, he might be able to sort something out for you. It is no use in taking medicines if they make you feel horrible
How is your pain? are you still having pain free days??
Take care
Love
Alison

Desi,

I am on neurontin 800mg 4 times a day and when i have bad days i take an extra one.. so i can take them 5 times a day. I notice a difference in my pain when i take an extra one but dont do it often. what if you took them right as you were going to sleep so you wouldnt get the High feeling. its takes about 30-60 mins for meds to work... Thats what i do!!!

Hi Desi,

What you're taking isn't really a very high dose of Neurontin but it may need to be titrated a little more slowly.
I started low and very gradually took myself to 1800 a day. I did get all the fuzzy head stuff when I tried to start off at a too high dose but now I am well used to it and have no side effects at all.
Wishing you luck with sorting it out,
Love Tayla

Default hmm..

Hi Desi..
Are you saying that he has put you on 1600 mg 3 times a day?
From what I was told they don't like to put us over 3600 mg a day, and to go from 1800 mg to 3600 mg in one day.. yah you got a right to feel weird.. might make you sleep realy well for a bit too. But I would tend to think thats a bit too fast.. I'd cut one of thos pills in half for the day medicine (not night) times for a day or so then go up to what he perscribed.. but don't listen to me, (bad Sandra) talk to a pharmacist or your crazy doc.. doncha just wish they'd take our meds for a few days to get a grip.

hugz Desi

Thank you Sue, Debby, Ali, Amber and Tayla!
You girls made me feel better!! I called my Dr. and he admitted that he indeed had made a mistake. 1600 mg. at bedtime was way to much!! (I didn't take it on the 3rd. day anyway) It made me feel like me going under anesthesia!!! So here is how my doc. had it. 800 in the A.M. 800 in the afternoon and 1600 in the p.m. wayyyyyyyy to much!! Anyway, he told me to take 2 pills either twice or three times a day (800 mg. each) Thanks again ladies! ~Love, Desi
