hi all,
Well, here it is at day 11 with my perm scs. I love it soooo much. I can't believe how great it works. The first week or so was really uncomfortable. Not from the rsd, but from the back and butt surgery. My incisions are both about 2 and a half inches. The stitches came out on day 9. Doc said that it was healing great, but that I still have about 7 weeks of not doing anything. I need to let the leads scar in place. I'll do whatever I have to do to have it work. Doc also said that he really thought that I would be able to go back to riding the horses in about 6 months or so. I am so happy. Again, all I can tell everyone is if your doc suggests it, give the trial a go. It will not work for everyone, but if it works for you that you can start to have your life back. You must do what the doc says tho. trying to rush things too fast can cause problems with the leads. I was sleeping for the whole surgery. They said that they woke me up, but I don't remember it at all. The leads have been stitched in place, but they can move a little when I move around, so I am being good and not doing anything. Just wanted to let everyone know that I am back up and running Hugs Mary

I have had my SCS permanent for 10 weeks now. It works awesome for my burning pain. I get 90-100% pain relief. It is not working for my stabbing pain under my foot when I try to walk. I'm not sure what can be done about that. I'm so glad to hear your SCS works great for you. You are at the hardest part right now. Be very careful and let those leads heal in place. I know it is hard because you feel well now and want to make up for lost time. Congrats!!

Nettz,
So many questions. At week ten, do you have any restrictions? I know what you mean about the stabbing in the bottom of the foot when you walk. I still have some of mine. I just thought that it would get better over time. The burning pain is almost gone. it's been 2 weeks today, and I am so bored. Hubby will not let me do anything. Doc said not housework, no yard work, no nothing. he said not to load/unload the dishwasher, reach, bend, twist, etc. I can tell it is going to be a long 6 more weeks. How did you handle not doing anything? I don't see my doc till Jan 17th. what kind of scs did you get? I have an ANS, and it is really great. Much smaller than I thought is was going to be. Of course, my back and butt still hurt, and doc has me wearing an abdominal brace 24/7 to keep the swelling down. Hugs Mary

Mary,
I am glad the scs is working so well. I had mine put in 2003. It was great and I was so happy. But just be very carefull. I had a bad fall in the winter in and one of the leads slipped out. Very painful. I am haveing it taken out as soon as a date opens up. Most likley next week. I wish you the best of luck with your scs. I have missed mine since they turned it off. Sue K |
