Thanks so much for this...

I knew that there had to be some "theory" to the diet. It wouldn't make sense to the saying "you Are What You Eat" right?

I already follow this farely well. I see where I can tighten my edges now!

Good Luck and Thanks again!

Me like...

Thanx for the diet info! I'm definitely going to try it.

I'm going to beat this thing!

Silly question...Sushi may be out of the question as I suspect it has some gluten and it's not cooked...right? (Don't go breaking my heart) You brought up the Miso soup and got me all excited! lol

Should I still take the Grape Seed Extract and continue with the Epson Salt baths? Or is the only plan for organic meals and acupuncture only. I'm not an expert on Western Medicine yet, however I'd love to learn more.

Thanx again:hug:

Hi Sandra,

I replied on this thread because it is my self-appointed duty to make sure everyone knows that Hoosh is a quack who charged his patients thousands of dollars before he would see them, and who never helped anyone.

His “Puzzles” are arranged so that no one will ever know exactly what he said, but some of them are so stupid they should be read by everyone: Like his description of “fight or flight”; in which he says “flight” means rest.

Anyway, the guy was convicted of Medicare fraud; he did have his DEA license revoked, and he made lots of money while failing to help anyone with RSD. If someone wants to read his “Puzzles” anyway; enjoy.

I do think we should listen to our bodies, they’ll tell us if a food makes our pain worse. We shouldn’t avoid life’s simple pleasures just because some expert tells us it will make us feel better; especially when that expert is Hoosh. Life with RSD sucks, and if eating a Turtle gives me a moment of pleasure (and it does), I’ll take it.

If a Turtle ever nakes my pain worse, I'll give the rest to my grandkids. (Sending my grandkids home with a sugar high is my way of getting even with my kids)...Vic

I am so sorry sushi is out :icon_sad:

Now with acupuncture you have to be extremely careful - some will try to treat you for neuropathy's which involves hitting the areas which hurt- NO GOOD .
The most effective treatment is when they work on calming the central nervous system( at least for me) which involves points in the back ( and the delicious ones in the head which put you into a delightful trance ) so please make sure your acupuncturist is well qualified - or hold off on this for the time being .
I would spend my money on a holistic doctor -more bang for the buck- again do the research .
My return on my investment has been beyond amazing in such a short period of time .In fact I don't want to jinx anything but I have never been this hopeful of a bright and excellent future.:):):)
Now of course you can continue with your grape seed extract .
However in my treatments I have received antioxidants in amounts that would and do put GSE to shame and then some (kid stuff):cool: -can't really see where it can help ?????
And most are in their purest and most natural form .
In France Homeopathy is considered medicine and is the first line of defense-no PCP's -just your local homeopath :) .
These homeopathic medicines and tinctures ( and they are very strong powerful stuff indeed ) have been given up on long ago by the FDA as there is no money in their use and sales as no big pharmaceutical companies are involved..
They are nontoxic to the body - cheaper than the meds the doctors give us and they work at the root of the problem NOT just to mask symptoms .
What more could you want ??

Peace and Good Luck

GnP

PS Epsom salts baths are always an IN :)
If it makes you feel good and is not toxic it is always a good thing :)

Thanks for the info GnP--
I am going to show it to my daughter who has been relatively pain free for a couple of months until this week when she tweaked her knee (not a known RSD point for her--yet) Her foot however, not in pain sure looks like RSD in full mode--it is weird and I guess it is just building in her. Anyway, the inflammation in her knee is what we need to calm down so the pain will stop. A question about this diet, if I purchase gluten free products, will that open some options for her? She is a good eater but is very thin and needs to keep calories. Also while being a good eater, fish isn't for her. I think I can make this work but I feel a bit rushed in it as it is so situational.

I agree with Vicc that life is to short to limit the good things, but right now, walking and school are the good things in her life. She just completed her first semester of high school, first full semester in over three years and came out ranked #1 in her class and on the highest honor roll. Okay--didn't mean to brag but I am so proud of her and all that she has accomplished. The best part is that for the first time in three years she has friends.

Thanks for the info-

Hi girls,

I think diet is important. If we can keep from getting any other disease to go with RSDS then we need to if that's all a diet does. A person doesn't need diabetes, GERD, Ulcers, and other medical problems by eating too much of the wrong thing.

I do believe that it could make the pain worse too. If you have RSD internally then the wrong ingredients of certain foods could set the pain off. I deal with bladder pain and pelvic pain. I have learned that I can't do tea, oranges, things with acid in them.

I think staying on the right diet will keep you from getting more sick in other ways and making the RSD worse.

As far as Dr. Hooshmand. I have his book. I bought it about 5 years ago for me and one for my Dr. It was the best thing I could have done. Everything in there might not be up to date or right but if you are able to use some of his training and knowledge to help yourselves then that's a good thing.

We take what we learn from each person we read from or any of you and use what we feel we can. As far as herbs and vitamins, a person should always check with their Dr. to see if they are ok to take with the meds you are taking. Some donot.

Have a good day.

Ada

RSD mom
If you read my last line it said if it feels good and it is not toxic to basically do it.
This means everything positive that nourishes your body mind and soul in ways that make you feel good.
Sometimes with all we have going on we forget the most simple pleasures in life - listening to music can be a great pain reliever if it gives you pleasure - a bath ; the ( right ) tough of a loved one ;)- a hug or talk from a friend or mother .
If heat is good for your symptoms use it more often - epsom salts baths go for it - don't forget your friends especially as we all have a tendency to do that sometimes when we are not feeling so good .:(
Get back to basics and remember what nourished your soul and you before this happened- do a jiggy once in a while if you are still able - laugh from your gut- so healthy !!!!
On a more day to day level I have been going to the gym since I recovered from my bilateral ribresections which gave me RSD ; I have been in the gym with dystonia in both feet and bone crushing pain that kept me up at nights . Nothing has ever stopped me as I refuse to envision a life without walking .I have to keep using it or I will lose it so to speak. So,I have always soldiered on .
I do listen to my body and adjust the level of intensity and workouts according to the condition my condition is in ;).
I use the eliptical trainer to keep the energy flowing in my body even when my calves were cold( they aren't any more and my dystonia is almost gone!!!:)- knock wood a thousand times !!!!! YAY :)
I have been told by many doctors that I was doing the best thing for me.Ok for that I believe them .:D
My RSD hands ( my initial sight ) are still very strong some 8 years later from lifting weights(very light) this whole time. As I got this through bilateral ribresections(and more) I have always felt my arms and hands were my weakest link despite my efforts and positive attitude.
One of the things the homeopathic doc said to me was "Your hands are strong.Get that thought out of your mind and start using them as often as possible .
I went home and cooked.I hadn't done that in years thinking my arms were too feeble,Yes even me .:D
That paradigm shift in my brain was so necessary !!!! Sometimes we get stuck without even realizing it.

Please DO NOT STOP LIVING !!!!!
That is the worst thing that we can do for ourselves. Being busy is a gift - a distraction and so healthy any way you can manage it within your current limitations .
School is fantastic - go by all means - do not let a little thing like a disease stop your life :)

I was already on a head start with this path practicing meditation and a balanced diet (not as balanced as the list ). I started with talking to my sick body parts in only the most loving and caring of ways .I love my feet -when they are feeling bad I send them messages of terrific love caring ,energy and warmth....I won't go in to what I say - you can make your own love song to your sick body parts-see what a positive effect it will have
(if they are cold/hot . Be good and nice to yourself .It goes a long way!!!
Buy some body scan meditation CD's from Amazon
The evidence is out there on the amazing positive effects of meditation on pain

I did not get this way through the good times.
At a very decent low I read a book called Wherever You Go There You Are
by Jon Kabat Zinn
buy it for the title. Buy any of his books "Full Catastrophe Living "is another good one :)
It teaches you to try to live in the moment which is far less overwhelming than worrying about what may be. I then created a lifestyle that worked for me.I have always been healthy.
I have a favorite saying - I won't bore you with too many:D
"Worrying won't change the outcome ." It only hurts us with this condition.
Whatever is going to happen will happen whether you worry or not.
So do whatever you can to effect positive change and leave the worrying out of the equation. Not worth the stress.Easier said than done and always a work in progress.

I too need to gain weight RSD mom - There is a sight called "Heartfelt Medicine" that I found through much research -don't move forward without that research - he is not my homeopath but ya never know - he has a shake mixture for sale on the internet full of many essential fatty acids(high in good calories) - nutrient rich foods - anti inflammitory properties etc. Sounds expensive but for that $300 you are getting 5 lbs worth of product and you only need a teaspoon of most of the ingredients per shake. This will last a very long time !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I plan to hit the place up for a good recipe so I will share here if you are interested.Let em know
This shake is not only for weight gain but for healthy living period!!!!!

I hope I have covered everything
Oh Vicc for once I have to agree with you although your methods are dubious -Hooshmand is a shady dude indeed.
Some of his puzzles can be applied but a lot are outdated garbage Please use them with absolute discernment .His motives on everything cannot be trusted.

I care first and foremost about everyone's wellbeing .

Peace

GnP

Have you read about the "eat right 4 your blood type" ?
- a lot of it fit for me & my blood type.
Certain foods would make me feel bloated or just not comfortable and after I read the book I could see why.
Most of the foods that kind of bothered me were the ones I shouldn't have been eating.

The guy has a website and his books are in the libraries if you are interested in looking into it more. http://www.dadamo.com/knowbase/newbie/1.htm

Sandel, the study will be held in Chicago but I need to verify the caller said it was through a university. I am not certain what group is sponsoring this study, but it is in connection to the Rehabilitation Institue of Chicago. I will find out more next week when I get a second call-back. I think they want to do some preliminary screening. Then you go to Chicago for the day for blood testing and assessment. Then if you are selected to participate, the rep said the study would begin this summer and involves nutrition with a control group and a test group. I don't know how long it will take but he said the results will be published.

I was hesistant to participate because I am terrified to have my blood drawn for fear of a spread. This caller said he would verify the technique used with the phebotomist before he called back. I would like to participate, but it will require a lot of windshield time on my part and driving is so difficult with CRPS in my left arm.

GnP, thank you so much for taking the time to post this information. My neurosurgeon (is a dear friend of mine) has recommended the very same diet to me several times. He is a big believer in what we eat affects our brain chemistry and that inflammation is very serious. He definitely practices what he preaches. He does yoga and watches what he eats. I am no where near that disciplined. Oh well, I am a work in progress.

Thank you for sharing.
