Hello everyone,
My 12 year old son has RSD in the wall of his stomach. For the past 2 days he has had severe sharp pains going up his back and sharp pains in his arms as well. I'm just wondering if anyone else experiences pain in other areas than the area diagnosed. I got him up today and walking and I'm trying to have him raise his arms and try and hit a balloon and try to touch his toes to stretch his back. I just feel so bad when he is in pain, and I know that I am suppose to keep him moving, but it is so hard. I appreciate any advice anyone has to give me. Thanks for listening and have a pain free day. terry |

RSD does spread and it can at any time. Everyone on here will attest to that one.
I would call the Dr. as quick as I could and maybe ask about blocks to help stop the spread. I don't remember where you are living but here the weather has went back to bad and I am in a lot of pain today. I can hardly walk. That could be causing more pain for him. I would sure call the Dr. though. Ada |

Hi Ada,
I called the doctor yesterday and basically he just said get him up and walking and take a hot bath - not very helpful. We are on the waiting list for an intense physical therapy program and basically he wants my son to try and be as functional as possible in the meantime. I am forcing my son to go to a friend's house to play this afternoon - I can't believe I have to do that. The doctor has never mentioned blocks - I guess that is something I am going to have to look into if the PT doesn't work - I also want to learn more about HBOT - I'll do anything to help him. Thank for your kindness - I'm sorry for your pain - I hope you get some relief soon. terry |

i am so sry 2 hear bout ur son but what believer said was rite RSD can spread at any given time and at any rate it wants its a demon we all know. i wood call the dr agin if it gets worse or persists. i just cant imagine the dr woodnt want 2 c him after that. i had blocks for a year and a half they only helped for a very limited amount of time but its was better than nothing and works way better for most other people. i cant imagine how hard it is for u 2 make him play and keep moving but u r rite hwen u r rite when u know that it is a bad idea 2 just let him do nothing. i hope all gets better and keep me upfdated plz. i wish u and hijm and the rest of ur family all the luck in the world u r in my thoughts and prayers. i wish him all the pain free days in the world.

Hello Terry,
I am sorry your little man is struggling ![]() Perhaps he has somehow irritated them, maybe just from falling asleep in a funny position or stretching and this is the result ![]() Does he have a temperature or a cough? Pleurisy can sometimes give this type of pain too but I am sure you would have seen other symptoms. Maybe a hotpack and even just a small dose of plain old paracetomol or aspirin might help but I do agree with the doctor to try and keep him moving as much as he can tolerate. Let's hope this is something that will just ease off over a few days and prove to be nothing to do with his RSD. I am thinking of you both Tayla ![]() |

I don't know if you son uses Lidocaine patches and I know he is young but I would ask the Dr. if this is a possibility for him. They do help a lot.
Also like Tayla says, heating pads, I have 3 of them. I have used all 3 at a time. I hope he starts doing better really soon. Ada |
