Default Question about Merilax?

Have any of you taken this for constipation, did it help, and what side effects did you see?

Thanks,
Ada

Hi Ada,
No I haven't tried this. I take ducosate.
I've been thinking about you. How are your legs?

Ada I use it & have for over a year. It takes awhile to adjust the dose that works the best for yourself, but relatively speaking there are few side effects that I have notice. Definitely does not cause any extra gas for me. *giggling* if you catch my drift. And the only other I noticed is if you take toooooo much you might get a bit crampy & need the toilet pronto *giggling* if you get my drift again....

It works rather well.

Default Thanks for the advice on the Merilax,

I was on it for a week and it did help but now I have a bad rash. That's one of the side effects of it. Now I have to see a Dr. to deal with the rash if it don't go away.

Did any of you get rashes from it?

Ada

Ada,

I have experience with it but no rashes. I just didn't like it. I know people who are on opiates swear by it. But I just didn't like the way it worked. It took too long for one, I NEVER needed the full 17 grams and when I took that amount, my IBS went into a major flare. I eventually took it down to 1/2 a teaspoon and then switched over to Benefiber. More recently I talked with my PM who doesn't like Miralax either. Actually, this now makes 3 or 4 docs that don't like it. So, she wanted me to try Lactulose...love it! I don't need much of it either but no cramps, no nothing. I really think it depends on the individual and the meds though. Alot of people love it...I am just one that it didn't work all that well for and again, really didn't need all that much. Oh,my PM did say that after awhile it can start to bind you up.
