Default my surgery for tomorrow is postponed

Hi all,

Well, my surgical nurse called this morning. Insurance is still giving them a hard time approving the revision of the battery site for the scs. My dr should have an answer with 2 days and then hopefully, I can get it rescheduled for a week or two. It is rare that I get down when things don't go the way I want. I always look for the bright side no matter what happens. I'm not having a lot of luck this time. My butt hurts so bad where the battery is, that I can't sit or stand for long. the only way I can stay on top of it is to stay in bed on my left side. Even then, it hurts enough that I can't sleep. It feels like battery acid is being poured over the butt. (I know there is a joke there).. Hubby had taken off the rest of the week from work, and my daughter was coming up to help out for a few days. As you all know, I have my horses here that must be taken care of every day. i've been in bed all day sleeping...I just don't want to deal with it. I know it will look better tomorrow.

thanks for letting me vent.

Hugs
Mary

Awwwwwwwwwww.. Sweetie, I feel so bad for you!! darn it!! You should get the batter removed now!! Is the Dr.'s giving you anything for the pain? Darn insurance companies!! They should make this a priority(Insurance) since you said it feels like battery acid being poured over your butt! darn, I am so very sorry. I do hope they get this thing out of you.. and quick!!! I love you Lady, and hang in there, oh.. and give your Insurance hell for this, I would!! ~Love, Desi

Shocked battery?

Why did they put the battery in your butt? Is it for the scs? If so that is a strange place to put a battery even if not it is still a strange place for a battery. If it is for the scs then they should have put the battery where they put mine. My is in the lower right side of my abdomen. It usually never gets in the way. The only time is if I have to lean over something I can feel it. It is just a small bulge. Thank heavens I have some fat because if I didn't it would stick out like a sore thumb. Sorry to hear that surgery is postponed and that you are in so much pain. I am praying for you. Take care and hopefully the ins. gets there heads out of THERE Butts. No pun intended.

Sincerely,
Screwballpookie

Yeah, mine is in my butt, too. It often feel like I have a REALLY FAT WALLET in my pocket. If only... When I look my wallet is just as skinny as before.

I am going to get it moved when it needs a battery replacement. I am told that used to be the standard location, because the whole installation procedure could be done while you were on your stomach. Easier for the doctor, less possible complications, infections, etc.

I am so sorry you are in so much pain! I don't know anything about scs, so I can't be of much help there. But just know that you are in my thoughts

Thank you all for you good thoughts. I'm doing much better today. I hoped to hear from the hospital today, but nothing. Maybe tomorrow. I know my dr. is just planning on moving it up a little more towards my waist. It's taken a lot of talking and moaning and groaning to get him to move it. He kept saying that it healed so nicely that he didn't want to mess it up by moving it. It did say last time I say him that he thought it was the rsd that was spreading. I really think it is the battery. I'm hoping it's the battery. If my insurance co doesn't approve it I'm not sure what to do. The only think I'm taking, pain wise, is MS contin. If I have to go back on more meds then I will, I just don't want to.

I'll let you all know if I hear anything tomorrow. If not tomorrow, then I will call my dr and see what they are saying.

Hugs
Mary

Stacie,

Thank heavens I'm not the only one. How was the surgery? recovery? I don't think my dr is going to move it to my abs, as he seems to have indicated that he is just moving it up and more towards the hip. Not by much, but something has to be better then nothing. Are you still having problems? I hope not. I have an ANS, what type do you have? Wow, you don't know how great you have made me feel. When I tell people it feels like battery acid they look at me as if I'm nuts. My dr. also. My ANS rep or course says that he has never heard of that sensation before. Let me know how you are doing.

thanks and great gentle hugs
Mary

Hello Dear
I Just Couldnt Belive When I Read Ur Story How Close To Mine It Was!! The Surgery Wasnt Horrible And I Am Already Up And Going For Small Walks. The Pain Is Gone As Far As The Battery Acid Goes. I Dont Kno What It Was But I Do Feel Much Better Now. I Have A Medtronic Scs. I Should Have Done My Research Better B4 I Got It Put In The First Time Tho Cuz They R One Of The Brands That Have The Most Issues I Haev Heard. But So Far So Good For Me. I Like The Battery In My Abdomen Already Due To Making It Easier To Use The Remote And The Charging System. I Wood Never Wish What I Went Thru On My Worst Enemy With The Whole Battery Thing But U Have No Idea How Happy I Am That I Am Not The Only One As Well. We All Kno That We Wood Never Wish Rsd On Anyone. Ok Well Dear I Hope That This Does A Lil For You. Keep Ur Head Up And Remember That I Am Thinkin Of U Lots And Lots!!!!!
