Heart Swallowing Difficulties...

Hi everyone,
I hope you're all well!! Just wondered whether anyone has swallowing difficulties with RSD. Over the last few months I have been having problems swollowing, it's like my throat closes up for a few seconds when I am eating which can be pretty scary.
Any advice is much appreciated
Thanks
Alison

Hi Ali!
I had that for awhile and thought I was going nuts!! I think mine was caused by anxiety over everything going on here at home?? If yours persists, I would ask my doc. Good seeing you post again, Ali. Hope all is well with you!! How's your dog?? I forgot his name?? ~Love, Desi

Default Hi Ali,

When I first got RSD and TOS I had swallowing problems. That was one of the issues we dealt with in PT. They stretched the area around my throat and chest. I am wondering if you aren't stressing so bad that you tense up and causes the muscles to tighten in the chest area.

Sure wish you'd start seeing some better days. Are you able to at least enjoy some of the summer, hope so.

Ada

It's funny you ask.

I just spoke to my neurologist about it recently. I've been getting the this reflex out of sequence or something and it just locks up briefly. It's linked in with breathing and sinuses and I'm not really sure exactly what's going wrong. She suggested that it's not a concern unless it's accompanied by choking. If I were you I'd check with my doctor anyway.

I've been having trouble with additional difficulty sleeping because I snore when I drift off and it wakes me. I've been doing throat and tongue exercises and propped up the end of the bed a little. It sems to be helping.

There must be some kind of nerve thing going on. I've also lost my gag reflex. I'm going to have to get some epicac or something for emergency.
