Default Trouble with HBOT--anyone with experience?

I have had 3 HBOT treatments so far. The first one went great--went to 2.0 ATA and had no trouble--and the symptoms seemed better. Second day I went to 2.4 ATA and had a lot of trouble with deep cold pain for the rest of the day. The third treatment we went back to 2.0. This was yesterday. Today I woke up and it felt like every cell in my body was on fire. Burning pain is not even normally one of my symptoms, and I only have (had) RSD in my left foot and leg. If anyone has had experience with HBOT, please share and offer some advice on this. I have heard that things can get worse before they get better, but this whole body burning thing has me worried, and where my foot was numb before, now it's on fire. I think I like the numb better. This is about as bad as my symptoms have ever been. On top of it all, I'm having some cognitive problems. Just not feeling with it...distant, out of it, and tired but can't sleep. Just not myself at all. Very concerned. Do I need to work through this with more treatments, or should I assume things are going to get worse and stop now??? I'm scheduled for 40 treatments and I've only had 3...good grief, I didn't really foresee how intense this all would be.

Hi, I understand exactly what you are going through. There is so much that I really would like to share with you about my experiences. I had all of those experiences at 2.4 ata. I had to drive 30 to 40 miles after 2 dives a day. I did this twice at 40 dives each time. I had symptoms although they got milder for up to 6 weeks after treatment, then had amazing pain relief for up to 8 months.
My first series of dives was in Canada at 1.5 ata, 40 dives and I was great after, for 8 months(no symptoms, well, thats not true...just much milder). The next year I did 40 dives at 2.4ata and like you had exactly the symptoms you explained and like I said early a few mild symptoms after. Again, with great results for 8 months plus. My third set of 40 dives the next year were at 2.4 ata. and with the same results.
Then I bought a chamber. I can not tell you what to do, but my results were amazing. I was alone when I did my treatments living in a hotel and doing my own driving and it was difficult! I could not sleep, I went to the bathroom 100 times per night it seems, I was confused and my skin burnt beyond belief.
Vic C. kept telling me "To shoot my way out of Dodge". I was in Texas for treatment, but I stayed. If you read his posts, he does not believe that 2.4 ata is necessary. I must say here, you probably should be taking grapeseed extract. It helps! If you pm me I'll give you a ring and we can talk if you like.
I am now a certified rescue diver with a chamber I use with great results. Sorry I am all over the place. I have just gone through the loss of a dear friend(Vic) and have a house full of company. I think if you can continue, you may obtain the results that will amaze you. Are you on any meds durring treatment? If so what? Do they have a list of your meds? Did you have a chest xray before treatment or recently? If you need to talk I will be glad to hear from. All the best, Diana

Hi,
Sorry to hear of your hbot concerns and complications. I have been following the posts of a person who has suffered with RSD for 30 + years and is currently undergoing hyperbarics. It might be helpful if you read about his experiences and maybe try to correspond with him or the clinic where he is being treated. You can find his story by googling american rsd hope. If you click on the home page, you will find the links to the hbot blog. You could possibly even have the clinic where you are being treated contact this doctor as he has treated many RSD suffers with hbot. Praying that things improve very soon!!

wishing you pain free days.

Yes, I am sticking with it. It actually gets rough before it gets better, apparantly. I'm having ups and downs, but I'm sticking with it. I've had 10 treatments so far--30 to go! I'll post updates as I go.
