Default Question about skin dryness?

Has anyone else had any problems with their skin going so dry with RSD that their skin feels calloused all over??? I have it in my feet & I fight dryness on them alot but this is dryness on my hands & arms. My husband notice today that my hands feel dry, calloused feeling even. As does the skin on the inside of my arms etc. It is bad enough that he notice with his dry calloused hands. I knew my hnads felt like that but not my arms. I use lotion several times a day too. Good lotion. Aveeno lotion.

Yup, my feet are by far the worst part of me but I have dry skin all over my body, basically from the neck down, all due to rsd. LOL I have switched to using Jergens Ultra Healing. It's the best one I've found and I've tried almost all of them! LOL It still doesn't "get rid" of it, but it has made it better than it used to be.

Hugs,

Karen

Dry skin? Yes, yes, yes! My hands are pretty tough and calloused, but my left foot still feels really course to me. I have snagged some pretty heavy socks with my foot. (See, ladies, it's not just women's hose that has problems. )

Everyone has a favorite lotion. Mine is Eucerin, the lotion not the cream. It does not soak in a lot, but seems to stay near the top. Not that it feels greasy, but it keeps that top layer treated for a long time. I have not noticed any stains on clothing, either. Big drawback -- it's the most expensive on on the shelf at Walgreens.

Yes. I never had this issue before and now have seborrehic dermititis. Sorry wrong spelling. Anyhow I am on rx shampoo but found this wonderful skin cream and it is very cheap. You can get it at walgreens. It is called vanicream. I hate creams cause am sensitive to textures and odors but this is very good for sensitive skin. Also I know healthy oils are suppose to help like omega 3.

I got a rx from the doc. It is for people with eczema. It is called Elidel (sp) the only problem is that you can't use it every day, and you have to use it in smaller amounts then you would just a over the counter cream. Then I use Lubriderm inbetween using the elidel

Thanks gals. I appreciate all that you suggested. I have RSD in both feet but I keep them from being so dry by using a foot file on them Yup I was able to desensitize them enough in '04 & '05 that I can stand to use the file on them. Took some doing but I did it. Before I did the desensitization I couldn't stand socks or shoes on nor could I stand to have the sheets touching them. Now I can wear socks & shoes, slippers & stand to have the bedding touch them. Now don't get me wrong cause my feet hurt every way they can, but I can still do that. I just hate to think I might have to use one of those on my hands YUCK! I got a script today for SGB's so maybe that will help with my hands to get the blood flowing better to them & get the numbness/burning out of them.

Thanks again.

Sorry that you have dry skin also Over the last month or so, I have also noticed that my skin is a lot drier and seems to crack more. My lips and feet are the worse that are affected.

I agree with the others to try an Excema (sp?) cream to see if that could help any, also it might be an idea to try a moisturiser (sp?) if you don't use one already - I use the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish moisturiser and I have found that it can help.

I hope you find something that helps you soon.

Take care,
Alison

I've also noticed Reed's skin is much dryer now. he's always had extremely sensitive skin (I always say he has baby skin), and his poor foot is just cracked and blistered almost. He is getting dry skin in other areas too. Boy, this monster just wreaks havoc everywhere! I feel for you all..I never knew anything about RSD until Reed got it. God bless all of you, and I'm saying an extra prayer for everyone tonight.

I get the dry skin too

My feet seem almost hopeless, but the rest of my body I have been able to keep kinda fixed up. My wife turned me on to her secret and it works pretty well.

Get a bottle of baby oil, and after your done showering or bathing, but still in the bath or shower. Slather some baby oil on the dry areas, then rinse.

At first I thought it was to girly but soon got over it when I realized I didnt itch as bad.

Hope everyone is havin some pain free days

My whole body had the dry cracking skin, until I started using Eulactol foot cream on my feet, now they are smooth again.I've started using Eulactol cream for very dry skin on the rest of my body, and Ta Da cured it's fabulous, it only took 3 days for my hands to clear up and they were split and bleeding. It is made in Australia so I don't know if you could get it in the US....Liz....
