I think I asked this on the old forum, but doesn't hurt to ask it here....

Those of us who ended up with rsd after the tos surgery...and ESPECIALLY those of us who were told PRIOR to the surgery that we had a pre-existing rsd condition, yet weren't given blocks to prevent the rsd from spreading...can the surgeons be held responsible for the spread, do you think?

Additionally, is there a chance we all had the same surgeon? Cuz i do know of at least one or two ppl who had the same surgeon I did and ended up worse...and he's on the recommended Drs list for TOS, but I didn't think I was "allowed" to tell I don't recommend him (publicly that is).

Why would you think that you were not "allowed" to publically not recommend a doctor? If you can publically recommend one, then you can publically not recommend one, also.

As far as I understand, you only have to be careful when it comes to slander and libel. But, if you have first hand experience, then you would be committing neither one of those. You just would have to be careful and smart about what you say...and not let yourself get carried away.

But, you most definitely could say something to someone asking about a certain doc (your old doc, since that is what your talking about here) like " I know Dr X. He did my TOS surgery. I was not happy with the results. I had complications from that surgery. I do not recommend him. Maybe you should consider getting a seond opinion, or finding another doc?" There is nothing wrong with that. If you do not feel comfortable doing that on the open forum (as I know that there have been some....erm....disputes...on the TOS forum about certain docs in the past), you can do it by PM if you feel strongly and would like to try to save someone else from the possibility of having to go through what you are going through now.

We have had lots of discussions about different docs here on the RSD forum in the past. Not everyone agrees about them. Even the "Well known" ones and the ones that are "The Ones" to go to. That is ok, because everyone has their own opinions and their own experiences, and we all can learn from each other. Just because someone else likes or doesn't like a doc, doesn't mean that someone else has to or doesn't have to go to that doc. Just because someone had a bad experience with a certain doc doesn't mean that he might not have been the very doc to "save" another patient. That is just how it works sometimes. But..ALL information is good, and ALL Information is appreciated. ESPECIALLY when it comes to docs that might not really have a clue as to what they are doing with RSD patients, and that might actually be exacerbating their condition.

Just as long as you stick to facts, you should be perfectly alright.
