Default Question about people on Medicare.

I was switched over to Widows benifits this month. Bill will be gone 2 years the 21st. I am now on Medicare and have to find a part D to pay for meds.

I went with this one company that my Pharmacist told me about and I don't like them. Could any of you tell me of any of the ones you are seeing the best results on that they DO pay for prescription meds without having to argue with them over each one.

I know there is Humana out there and many more but don't know enough about them to go with one.

Please give me some thought on this.

Ada

Hi Ada,

I am also on medicare and had to look into part d coverage but found it cheaper to go through a private insurance like bluecross blue shields medicare coverages. They cover both prescriptions and doc's office visits and hosp coverage and find it is better then just relying on medicare. My grand parents went through a medicare supplement along with medicare and bought EPIC (medicare part D coverage) and ended up spending 900$ every 3 mos. and i am paying 33.90 a month and that includes drug coverage and vision and some dental and hearing aids!!

WHat state do you live in?? I live in NY and know some good onesthat will help you save money and have great and better coverage!!

Default Hi Amber,

I am in Colorado.

I do know there are a lot of those insurance companies that supply part D. I just don't know the name of any nor how they do at paying.

Thanks for the help.

Oh, I am interested in companies too. My mom will be crossing over the Medicare bridge in May next year and we have no clue where to start. She lives in Tennessee.

Jim, my husband is on Medicare but has military insurance to supplement so he's covered and we never had to go this route.

Thanks to everyone who responds.

Have either of you guys received medicare books ?? its has like what they cover and everything.. i found mine in the back of the book. those are all the local insurance companies that carry medicare insurance. I found the one i am switching to on TV. Its called MVP gold. not sure if its only a NY insurance but u might want to look at it. I have Blue Cross blue shield now and found them in the medicare book in the way back. It goes by counties.

With my insurance i have now, you do not use your medicare card at all.. yes you will get one in the mail and it says to show it but if you get one of the "private" medicare insurance companies, you only show them that private insur. card. They will pay the docs, hosp ect, but then will submit to medicare to get reimbursed them selves.. leaves you out of playin middle man like you have to do with plain medicare. and with the private insurance, you will get prescription coverage at no extra charga and comes with the policy, as long as you sign up for med. d coverage.

**And did you know that if you call SSD and if you are on a limited income, that you can get extra help paying the medicare and the private insurance coverage!! all you have to do is ask for the packet to be sent to you and fill it out.!!! I was elidgeable (sp) for 75% Subscity(Sp) discount and instead of paying like 80$ i pay 33.90 a month and i get extra coverage if i meet my doughnut in the perscription coverage!! this is for anyone on Social security!!

I have become a little bit of a expert with trying to figure out my medicare coverage and my grandparents for them.!! so if you have any questions please ask away..

Oh and EPIC is the best presciption coverage for medicare d coverage. and AARp isnt bad either but its just anothe expense if you get it and the private insurance but can get both!!

Default Thanks for the help rsd angel.

In the state of Colorado, Social Services pays the Medicare deductable for those that fit into the financial range and they also pay for part D if it's cost is under a certain amount.

With the insurance I am with now, which has only been about 2 weeks, I have already fought them over a med. They are paying it. I told them if they don't I am moving on. It's called Community CCRX. It was good for Bill but I told the lady I am not going to fight for every med I need. I'm only on 2 right now.

They get their money from the Government and they are all hurting from what I heard on the news this morning so I would say most will do what they can to help. This one changes over to something else though the first of the year so I believe I may end up having to switch.

Thanks for the help RSD Angel.

One other thing, one reason I would like to change to Humana, they pay the fees of exercise places for you. I'm not sure how good they are though.

Thanks RSD Angel! I will look at Jim's book and then check the income limits. Right now mom gets work disability plus her widows pension so she wont qualify for a break. Her disability runs out in four years and she'll most likey be eligible then.

Hi Ada!

I have medicare and chose the rxamerica prescription plan D. The prescriptions do have a co-pay, but it is at the most $1.50 per.

I dont have to pay the medicare deductible because the state picks up the tab on that one. So far I havent had any trouble at all with rxamerica, and love that 3 prescriptions are under 5 bucks.

Hope you have a wonderful holiday season!

Default Hi Allen,

The company you're with is in my Medicare book.

Amber, thanks for mentioning the Medicare book. When I got it and threw it in my desk. I am so disfunctional I let my Social Worker help me figure this mess out when it started. I just didn't think to look in the book.

My meds are costing me 5.00 copayment each at this point. What's bad is when you have to buy meds that are over the counter too. I have 2 that I am paying full price for. The one I have to get today, Align, is 38.

I am going to check into the one you're on Allen.

Thanks for the help.

Ada
