Default Curcumin

I read in a research paper that certain botanicals such as stinging nettle, reishi mushroom, and curcumin have anti-glial properties. Does anyone know of others that also have anti-glial results?

I am very interested in trying curcumin but know that it is not well absorbed by the body, can be expensive, and there are many inferior brands on the market. Can anyone recommend a good brand(s)?

Thanks for your help.

The brands used in studies were specially manufactured for good absorption.

The LongVida company who makes the best one, is now licensing out the product to other good packagers... NOW brand has one that I am using now...and it is working on my arthritis well.

CurcuBrain:

I only use one a day. This price is so much lower than the 60-70 dollar one LongVida charged until just recently.

Another one is CurcuGel 500... but I think the NOW one is much better. I used CurcuGel in the past with few improvements.

Palmitoylethanolamide sold as PeaPure is a complex fatty acid discovered by an Italian Nobel Prize winner. It apparently modulates mast cell production and communication within the microglia. It is used in Europe for neuropathic pain. I order it from the Netherlands, payment is in euro online but exchange is good. I have been taking it a while. Can't say for sure how much it has helped but I'm doing fairly well, no side effects, so I am not about to stop taking it!

mrsD,

How many capsules of the NOW CurcuBrain 400mg. do you take a day?

Littlepaw,

How many capsules/gel caps (?) are you currently taking? Do you think that it is correct to say that if one takes the recommended full dosage for 8 weeks and has no or little response, then the PeaPure isn't likely to be helpful for that person?

Thanks!

I only take one a day. I have to rest every 3 to 4 days, because some of the curcumin stays in the GI tract and I have issues with that. I take one a day for about 3 to 4 days or until I get symptoms, stop a couple, and restart. I take it with food too. The label says to take one a day as well.

Hi Brightcloud,

I am currently taking three capsules a day a little before meals to maximize absorption. The most I have taken a day is four, the least two. To me even 4-6 weeks is a fair trial for PEAPure. I think you can only buy six boxes at a time dues to customs. I don't know how much the PEA has contributed to my well-being since I go to acupuncture also, but I do feel it has helped and I take pretty minimal medications (low dose nortriptyline) considering.

good luck!
