Default House -TV Show

I was thinking we should write to the TV show House to see if they can mention RSD in their show- It is certainly a odd enough disorder and then I saw this interview..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUVcCc-fqDs

What do you think.

I think that any exposure of this rare disease has the potential of bringing more awareness to the medical profession as long as it's portrayed accurately. That is the problem.....there is so much outdated information out there that is still readily available.....I personally have learned more from all of US (those who actually suffer from it) than I have from reading about it on the internet.

I must live in the stone age, because I am ashamed to say I've never even heard of this show (and they are apparently celebrating their 100th episode??? Oh dear.....there's "basic cable" for you). What we need is to determine the appropriate demographic to get it into a show that those in the MEDICAL PROFESSION watch. I know it was shown on the first season of "Mystery Diagnosis"......I remember watching it way back when (before I had RSD myself). I, for one, would appreciate it being explored and examined in ANY show....again.....as long as it is accurate, up to date information.

Default No Happy Ending

I have thought the same thing frequently. I do not watch very much TV, but "House" is one of my favorites.

Most television dramas want to be able to show a happy ending in 60 minutes. That means the doctor would not only figure out what is wrong, but administer a cure or a good treatment. As we all know, that is not always possible with RSD. However, this show sometimes faces the fact that not all conditions will have that neat, happy ending.

I don't know if the screenwriter could make it fit, but it seems like RDS is the type of "baffles most doctors" condition that this show seems to cover.

I wonder how CRPS could be presented to the writers or producers?

I think, not sure, but think, that on one episode the kinda hinted or said that House had rsd. They did the ketamine treatment on him and it worked for a while, but then his symptoms came back. Some one else may remember the episode and if I'm right or wrong.

Hugs
Mary

My PT told me that there was an episode about Ketamine. Hugh was cured for a while and at first they did not know why his pain went away. Then it was discovered that ketamine was used as during surgery, and that is why he had relief from his pain. I don't know much more about it....very interesting though...

Default Ketamine

I did see that episode and it was bizarre because it was right after I had the ketamine infusion. But no they never said he has RSD. Just muscle pain from an injury.... Bassman I know what you mean about the happy ending thing producers like but maybe just knowing what you have can be a happy ending....
