I lost all my teeth before RSD but I just wanted to say I hope the dentist will have knowledge of the RSD to help you. Those toothaches are bad.
Feel better soon. Ada |

Hi Carrie,
I'm sorry to hear about your dental problems ![]() I also have problems with my teeth now that I have RSD. My teeth used to be fine and hardly every needed any treatment but now they chip all the time and can get infected pretty easily. Since having RSD, in the space of about 3 months, I have had to have a Root Canal, Filling and a tooth extracted. I was SO scared of going to the Dentist at first as I thought it would cause the RSD to spread but figured it was better than having to deal with any additional problems. One of my friends has suspected RSD and she has also had to have a Root Canal. Her Doctor said that all of the dental issues were linked to the RSD and that it is pretty common. I never thought of it before but it seems to make a lot of sense as RSD can mess anything up that it wants to do!!!! When I went for the dental treatment, we told the Dentist all about RSD and asked him to read up on it. We also took an article about RSD and Dental work and it stated that RSD patients usually need double the amount of Anaesthetic than a "normal" person to try and prevent any spreading. It took 6 shots of anaesthetic for one of my teeth to go numb!! My Dentist was very good though and read up on everything and knew what to do beforehand. If you need any dental work, I would definitely talk to your dentist about the RSD and make sure he knows what he is doing beforehand. If you look on the American RSD Hope Website, there is an article about RSD and Dentistry that you might find useful ... it is the article that we used and took to my dentist. Take care and please keep us updated when you can! I'm sorry that you are having to deal with all of this!! ![]()

Hi Carrie,
Please do some research into the use of hyperbaric oxygen treatments for bone infections. I do not have the time at the moment (just popped on for a minute and need to get to an appointment) to look into it for you; but if I remember correctly, bone infection may even be one of the "approved" applications and thus might be covered by insurance. You might also want to talk to Diana to see what she knows about hbot as a possible treatment option. Wishing you the very best, Jeanne |

Hi carrie,
I hope your infection is getting better. Your getting bombarded! A few months ago I had a tooth snap of at the gumline and then a second. I had read somewhere that Gabapentin can cause dental issues (which I had been on) Gabapentin tossed in the woods! My dentist always said to me that I had very strong gums/teeth/bones and would have my teeth for a very long time. I do not have full body rsd like you but think that the RSD is strange enough to cause just about anything. Let alone the drugs consumed. Keep on top of that infection. I know you have really great drs. so you are in good hands. Hope you sleep better tonight! ![]() |

carrie,
Hi! I did a quick search as Jenno suggested. She was right here is the link for it. I am not sure about the insurance part of it, but you might look into that too. Hugs Di http://www.nlm.nih.gov/MEDLINEPLUS/e...cle/002375.htm |

This is just an FYI to everyone. I am having sever plaque build up. My dentist is cleaning my teeth more often. He says its because iof the meds & RSD. I use a special toothpaste at night you dont rinse out that protects your teeth. My doctor says this all puts are teeth & jaws at risk for all kinds of problems. I now floss my teeth everyday also (I was bad about that before). Just thought I would share that with you. He says its impararive that I stay on top of my teeth with everything else going on.
