I ,also throught she had R.S.D. I, would like to known her Cure for it .Because there is none. I have had it going on 16 years now. And there is no Cure. Some one is not telling the whole story.She, blamed it on Pain killers.WHAT? It is the person that takes them not as directored. That gets ADDICTED. And abuses them . I want to Yell and tell the world WAKE UP PEOPLE. Take your meds right. With what the rsdsa.org did for us all today, we can now channel our anger into a positive position.

It's obvious that Ms abdul is trying to sell her new single, and, with the necessary "sales stops" she's got to get that drunken scandel behind her..

To saddle it onto people who actually live with this pain, not the hollywood addiction syndrome, is CRUEL.
Nothing less.

I've posted it, now it's time for us to all write to these outlets who have helped her perpetrate her hoax, and make a voice for ourselves, and others like us!

I couldn't have said it better myself! I'm one of those that hides my pain and most people don't know I have RSD unless I tell them. I refuse to use a cane or crutches as that just causes further problems both physically as well as psychological. Living with an invisible disability is not easy either, when I do use my forearm crutches people treat me completely differently. Like you Millerproof the world does not see the other side of me when I completely crash after a day of putting my best foot forward. I prefer to keep as busy and as active as I can because I worry that if I stop the RSD will take over my life.

I fully agree with you.

IMMHO Ms. Abdul needs to make an urgent statement about this. RSD is a condition that many serious people are fighting to get awareness for, *struggling* to get awareness for. She has no right to ruin the work of many renowned organisations such as RSDS.org but she almost singlehandedly did and is doing that. Doubts about her condition are increasing all the more. I fear that people will associate her drug addiction problem with RSD, and then where are we?

If she is an RSD patient, then what the heck is her agenda?

OTOH, if a celebrity brought cancer into a bad spotlight because of an addiction problem, people wouldn't associate the cancer, the condition itself, with the addiction problem. They would view them as two separate issues. They would say, "poor thing, the cancer is probably too much". Why won't they be able to do that for RSD?

It is, however, VERY bad that an addict has to bring RSD into the spotlight like this. I would feel deeply ashamed in her place. It's no time to start making excuses for an addiction problem by saying you have a condition called RSD and that you can't help it. If she can't see the kind of damage she is doing by that, then I wonder...

I think you are correct. Maybe the article failed to explain that she's wearing 9 patches. 2 on each arm and leg and one on her forehead.

i am the same way i hide my RSD very well i learned early on into my RSD that if i was to show that i was that sick that people treat me way different like a invalid
i also try to stay as busy as possible this also is kinda like PT to me with the kids and all.

I'm thinking she is doing most of these interviews to keep her name in the spotlight - any press is good press they say...
she's branching out on her own and all the talk will get her press , good or bad.

But you can't make someone want to be a spokesperson, plus she had all those other injuries to complicate things.

I wonder if there was a typo about the "15th surgery curing her RSD" - when I search that it comes up with "caused her RSD..."

But the good thing is people can write to those mags & papers to tell what RSD really is.
many of the comments on the sites have rsd patients telling their story too.

i think the same for one i dont want her to be the spokes person for RSD and i have wrote to nightline and the others telling them that paula abduls perception of RSD is not acturate and said there are alot of people that are suffering in silence
