Default Anyone have any of these complications

I have had CRPS in both legs since 2004 though it wasn't diagnosed until 2008.

In addition to certain symptoms I know are associated with this disorder (sweating, muscle cramps, pain, etc...) tests have revealed a number of other abnormalities that none of my doctors has attributed to CRPS to date, but based on comments on this site I am beginning to wonder. Anyway here they are:

- Triglycerides (initially ~3,000/ with max meds ~500, cholesterol OK, but NO good cholesterol)
- fatty liver
- Hypertension (160/120 untreated)
- Basically zero Serotonin despite already being on max Cymbalta for over a year
- testosterone 10% of normal for 40 y.o. male

I know my trig have been up for years and years hypertension also not sure about sertonin but been on anxiety or antidepressants all my life for ocd and other things, but can't say anything about testoterone since I am female and had a total hyster. for 15 years and yes I am 46 now. They have never given me meds for trigl. and never given me a calcium or vit. d regimen since my hyster. or my lactose intolerance for 15+ years.. Write more if you want Thanks Lisa

Default Hi,

I have high cholesterol and it won't come down with meds. It's 345.
I've also been told I have no Seritonin. I can't take the depression meds so I have been it councelling for more then 10 years. I think you can pull yourself up but it's hard. I also had an implant for depression put in me. It did help when we could keep it on but it messed with my breathing so bad we had to turn it off and on for about a year, trying to get me use to it.

As far as hypertension. Mine bounces up and down. I use to have low blood pressure now it goes up and down.

I don't know if the RSD brought it on though. My depression has been since childhood but the RSD did multiply it.

Red face Hope this helps

I have been told that the hypertension oh high blood pressure and sweating is contributed to the RSD... High blood pressure and pluse because or pain... The more pain you are you will realize the higher those things become... The sweating is a part of RSD... I read a book that said RSD affects a certian system called the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems whish are responsable for sweat, blood pressure and heart rate and sleep... I can not remember what book it was from but i know that it affects those systems you can read more about it... at the website below ... Here its the not the best explaination but the only one i can find until i find it in my book... Our sympathetic systems are always functions in a person with RSD... I hope this helps and isnt to confussing... I will find the book and repost more information... I know how frustrating it is to sweat and have high blood pressure and to try and deal with all of those things...Hope this informations helps...

Our Nervous System
There are two components to our nervous system: The Sympathetic and the Parasympathetic. Both components are in operation simultaneously, and they balance each other. When we experience stress, our Sympathetic system becomes dominate and causes our heart to beat faster to get more blood flow, our breathing rate to increase to get more oxygen, our sweat glands to function to cool us off, adrenal glands becomes active, etc. After the stress has passed, our Sympathetic system reduces its effect, and our Parasympathetic system becomes dominate and helps us recover. Our heart rate slows, breathing goes down, we stop sweating, etc. Our Sympathetic and Parasympathetic systems have opposite effects on our bodies: one to handle stress and the other to recover from the stress.

A person also mentions it on this health board..

Here is what I am on and I guess they lied about the Cymbalta then

Cymbalta - 120 mgs (2 60mg pills),
Xanax - 0.5mgs (4 to 6 a day),
Methadone - 60 mgs (4 times a day)
Flexiril - 10 mgs (1 to 4 a day)
Detroamphetamine - 10mgs (twice in the a.m.)
Dilaudid - do not have handy (as needed)
Requip - 0.25 mgs (one at night)

and this doesn't include the heart, cholesterol and other meds.

gotta go now, but hope I can talk soon

My neurologist educated me that RSD depletes the body of all Seratonin. It is one of the many challenges we face, with no real solution other than to ensure you are taking a nightly sleeping medication to replace its key role in sleep, made all the more difficult by the pain of our disease.

With respect to hypertension, it is a common side effect of Lyrica. I did not see Lyrica mentioned in your note, but if you are taking it for pain, you may need to coordinate care for the hypertension it can cause and determine whether the side effect of hypertension merits continuing it as a pain med.

Hope this information is helpful.

I was on Lyrica for years, but my PM pulled it some time back. Now that I have started having these sudden severe charlie horse cramps in my legs in the middle of the night he is wanting to put me back on something in that section of meds. My Psych said no way to Lyrica though because it supposedly increases depression issues?!? This would be news to me, but may explain why my head is a little better screwed on now then it used to be.
