Heart Update on Dew in Arizona

Hello All,

We are enjoying our stay here in AZ. It is hot here,LOL! The pool is great for me and my pt. So beautiful, this new landscape.

UPDATE ON MY SISTER:

My sister and all the family still waiting on biopsy results..should be this week. Sis also has to have a colonostomy, to see if cancer is in the colon. Currently, the pancreas and spleen are the areas that docs have pin-pointed as cancer zones. The docs told sis that it is manageable, as it has not spread into the lymph glands

So, hubby and I are here..and we have to leave no later than the 15th of May. The colonostomy exam is set for 5/14
We just found out today..what can u do???

We will be here with sis through that exam, but the next morning,5/15,(early-early), we are on the road back home to Oklahoma. I have to be in WC court on 5/19 to fight for TTD back pay since 1/09.

I have finally received the mileage $$$ that WC put off paying me for 5 months..prob because they didn't want judge to see that they have not paid mileage but paid for the pt. Makes them look negligent..which they are in so many ways!

On 5/26, I see my PM doc, and he will place me on MMI;set up a med/home pt maintenance program. PM doc is suppose to up my Opana ER,also.

Once that is all taken care of, I am free to fly back to AZ and assist my sis and family once the surgery date is set. Hubby has his own business that he must take care of, as well as 3 cats and a dog..a home to oversee. Our son is missing us,too

I am hopeful that the surgery will be after 5/26/09. We were expecting the surgery to take place while we are here;however, things changed once they found spots on sis's spleen. If it isn't one thing, it is another

My sis and I are having fun..as well as hubby and her entire family. My sis is a terrific cook, and will not let others do what she does on a daily basis. She told me that as long as she feels ok..she WILL con't to DO her daily routine.

I hope all is well with each of you. Dew

I am glad you're enoying your stay. Hot weather and great food, what else is there? It's great that she's so positive and optimistic about her cancer that she still has the courage and energy to do what she's always done. A good place to be in. That's promising!

Hopefully the biopsy results will turn out fine and the colonostomy too. The pancreas & spleen are enough to deal with. It's absolutely great news that it's not in the lymph glands and that it's manageable! Wishing her all the best for her upcoming treatment!!!

Too bad you have to leave so soon after the colonostomy but the most important thing is that you're there for her during the exam! You're doing all you can for her, I think she knows that.

It's not so great to have to come home for court, but unfortunately it's necessary (coming from someone who has future court dates too). Hopefully you can go back later and be there in time for the surgery.

Heart Dew's Thoughts...

Tonight we go to Ladies' Night at a casino. Sis, and I, and 2 of her gf will play Bingo, and then hit the slots.

30 yrs. ago, Ladies Night meant disco dancing and drinking..LOL! No dancing, no drinking..but still..FUN!

Sis goes to bed around 8:30 pm,(M-Th) so I hop on the puter to check on my buddies at NT. Hubby purchased a model and we sit across from each other at the dining room table; he does his thing, I do mine. We also chat with our son on yahoo msg.( he has a cam), so it feels like we are all together. AZ is 2 hrs behind OK time.

Last night, sis and her family were all in the dining room/living room area, with hubby and me..watching tv, cutting up and carrying on. We all had so much fun.

The pool has been great for my daily water pt regiment. The hot, dry temps have been great for hubby's back problems, too. My 11 yr old niece and I have been making art projects, and she is creating a special Mother's Day gift for my sis.

This has been a relaxing vacation for hubby and me. This Sat., we are going to a small Western era town called Rawhide; it has gun fights, great food, and tourist shops. Hubby and I will treat sis, her hubby, their 3 kids to dinner.
Sis and brother-n-law, have an 11 yr.old girl, an 18 yr old son and his gf, and a 26 yr old son. It will be fun, and we are all looking forward to the family day. I wish our 21 yr old son could be with us.

The delay in my sis' surgery has given us sisters and our combined families, time to make happy memories. I will be flying back to her side once the surgery date is set.

I am doing fine, health wise. I have my pain-reminder, insomniac moments, as each of you know those same moments, living with RSD. The new med, Opana ER, really has made my Quality of Life better in so many ways.

We may not make it to the Grand Canyon this go round;however, that is ok. It is 3-4 hr. drive one way..and after the 13 plus hr. drive coming here, we are not anxious to drive that much as a tourist. We will be coming back to visit sis and her family, and we will see the GC another time.

The landscape here in AZ is absolutely beautiful and a huge change from Oklahoma. We are amazed that grass is not plentiful here..alot of rock gardens. There are different species of Palm trees here, and the state of AZ, as well as NM, paint their bridges in SW motifs. Gorgeous

Sending peaceful pain-free thoughts to each of you

Heart

ladies night was a blast..bingo and then slot machines. I won back $60 of the $80 I put into the slots! I don't usually go to the casinos, but my sis and her gf have a once a month girl's night out date. We laughed so much.

At Bingo, they had these black boxes that had bingo cards loaded..and kept up with the balls drawn..and even let you know when u were waiting on the last number!!! Talk about easy..no real concentration needed. Us "gurls" just chatted and laughed throughout the bingo session. I could get up and stretch my legs as needed.

The night lights of Phoenix are amazing..the dessert has a life of its own. So different from the terrain of Oklahoma. The grocery stores here in high numbers are called Fry's...and they are everywhere. Yes, there are super walmarts, but Fry's is closer to the house.

I sleep when I want..get up when I want..a real vacation..and I do the same thing in my home in Oklahoma. The difference is that i am with sis and her family, on her turf..but, it just like being on my own turf in OK.Family does that for you..I am comforted as well as bringing comfort to my sis. Hubby is relaxing too.

We head back to OK this Friday. I am trying to pace myself as the thought of a 13 hr. drive makes me anxious.
