Hi Jennelle,

I'm glad to hear that the compression bandages are helping you and that they have reduced the hypersenstivity - that is great!!!

I think it is a personal decision in what to use to try and help with the swelling, stiffness and hypersenstivity and depends on what works best for you. I was told to wear compression bandages on my leg to try and reduce swelling and decrease the hypersenstivity but couldn't tolerate them really so I changed to rubbing my foot with feathers, cotton wool etc as that was what my PT's suggested. My leg is still VERY hypersensitive but it isn't as bad as it was thankfully and I can now wear socks for short periods of time.

If you decide to wear the compression bandages, just make sure that you move your limbs as much as possible as that is really important!

Take care of yourself and I hope things start getting better for you soon!!

RSD and my legs

I know usually we try to wear loose clothing because it hurts but the compression bandages for my arms keeps some of the swelling down and help with the hypersensitivity.
As to my legs....I have been waking up and they are so still that it hurts to move...is this normal with rsd? It takes me awhile to get out of bed....any ideas as to if I should elevate my legs at night? Once I had my legs bent up when I fell asleep on the couch and it took 10 min. to get it straight again. So, I have some ted hose, it is like the compression bandages for my arms....should I start wearing them? Any of you with rsd in your legs give me the down low on what you do. I am still working out what to do with the arms but I think that the legs are a whole new ball game.
Lots of positive thoughts out to you all....hope you are having low pain days!
Jennelle

I have unreal pain in both legs, an ache so deep that I have to get massage to make the pain tolerable. I am new to this diagnosis and not sure if this constant pain is a result of my RSD. Any thoughts?

Jennelle, I wear leggings because the fit close against my legs but aren't tight. They don't move around and if I need I can pull them up off of my lower legs which are more sensitive. When I was first injured I used Ace bandages wrapped around my leg as it seemed to give it a bit more stability and kept my clothes from touching it unexpectedly. But I could not stand the pressure hose.

I did have physical therapy within 30 days, even before a diagnosis was made, and it was just getting a massage while the gloves the PT guy was wearing were connected to the TENS unit. It definitely helped with sensitivity, but some days it is still bad.
