It just occurred to me to ask this question. I have internal RSD ...after i had my second abdominal surgery to remove a bunch of swollen tissue (this was before i knew i had RSD) any way my body went crazy and i developed all kinds of conditions. I just realized along with my list of physical problems, i am allergic to every kind of seafood, shell fish everything in the sea! My husband ate oysters once and hours later i kissed him and my lips swelled up and waqs rushed to the ER for big doses or prednisone and benedryl.

Just wondering if anyone else has allergies that they didnt have before RSD arrived in your life.

Wow, so much for a romantic moment. Just gets in the way of everything doesn't it!

I believe that my mouth is much more sensitive to seasonings. Burns my mouth with too much. I lean much more to the bland side of life now. Enough fire in my feet, I don't need to spice up my food!

No more blue crabs, lorigood? Oh, I wouldn't know what to do if that happened to me. I wonder if doctors who specialize in the field of allergies can help with those issues perhaps?

Sorry to hear this...
Until you get to your doctor about this, I suggest you have some benadryl at home and in your purse!

I have had a full allergy work up and the dr said you are allrgic to everything in the sea! stay away. i even take prednisone everyday for the RSD swelling and still if i get near sea food my lips and face swell...its crazy. I cant even open a can of tuna for my kitty in fear of the juice touching me...so hubby handles it.
and yes my mouth is sensitive, like there might be little sore on my tongue but you cant see anything, so im careful about spice too.

I wish that someone would write a great book about RSD covering all these little problems that come up so we dont think we are crazy!

I caught a common infection (c.difficile) while in hospital for CRPS that caused lactose and wheat intolerances. It led to chronic diarrhea, which means I have to avoid tomatoes, fruit, sugar, any processed foods etc. I was already a vegetarian, but who knows what else I would react to now? Incidentally I am now the size of a preteen . CRPS has really made food a lot less enjoyable, and made my mother-in-law crazy trying to accommodate my ever-shrinking list of permitted foods.
