Heart Dew Back from PM Doc Visit 5/26/09

Hi Friends,

I was placed on MMI today.(Maximum Medical Improvement; WC term). That means I am as good as I am going to get, medically speaking. I will be placed on a maintenance plan for meds ,to be reviewed every 3 months, indefinitely.

My PM upped my Opana ER to 20 mg. x 2 (every 12 hrs). He told me to stop Lortab as I know longer need it.The Lortab was not doing anything, anyway. I had been on it for over a year(10/500 x 4 per day).

PM doc didn't say anything about tapering off of the Lortab...what do you all think?

Doc said that Opana ER will take care of all my pain. Also, he said to con't Ultram ER 300 mg.,Neurontin 2400 mg daily,Mobic 15 mg daily;Cymbalta 180 mg daily;Diovan/HCT 160/25 daily; and TENS UNIT,daily..and flector or lidoderm patches as needed.

My Gerd( Protonix 40 mg daily), Xanex( .25 x 4 per day), and Ambien CR(12.5 mg) medication must be scripted by my Personal Care Physician. PM Doc said that he had not scripted Xanex in over 6 yrs. That is not a problem for me.

I will not have anymore water PT because that is something my atty. will have to fight for in my WC case. Once on MMI, PT is rarely granted by WC.

I am to see PM doc in 45 days, to see how I am doing on the new script of Opana ER. I went to fill the 90 pills at the pharmacy, and the WC ins. would only allow 68 pills to be dispensed at one time. That means I am 22 pills short of the current script. I called my PM doc and spoke with the receptionist, and she told me to call her 7 days before my pills would be gone; next, the PM doc's office will mail the pharmacy another script for the 22 pills that I am short until my next visit with PM doc. (68 pills = 34 days of Opana ER 20 mg x 2 per day: cost to WC $445.79)

PM doc also told me that I should consider moving to Arizona. The dry, hot temps/ heat, is what I need to be as healthy as possible. He would recommend a PM doc in AZ,for me. I told him that I would have to think about that...hubby agreed with me. My psychologist told me the same thing.."You should move to AZ once your WC case is resolved." Again, because of the dry heat.

I am exhausted. I need a good night's sleep.

Thanks for you input

Teeth sweet sleep in my life again

I took the first dose of Opana ER 20 mg ,yesterday, around 6:30 PM. I can report, that after being up, off and on until after 10:00PM, I finally slept soundly. I was fighting staying up, last night, because I didn't want to go to bed to early, and mess up my over night sleep.

I slept like a rock. I am still sleepy. I just woke up a little while ago. It is time to take my daily morning meds, less Lortab. I will then prob fall back to sleep again. I am in that acclamation stage of a new med.

Love you friends,
Dew

Dew,

Gotta love the increase of meds. It's the best way to get a good nights sleep. Once you get used to it, it will ease up. I am saying on the 20mg Opana ER for now, with 5mg Opana for breakthru. I still need a nap during the day, but at least I can function again. I'm also going back every 3 months to see how I'm doing on the meds. So far I still love it. Yeah, I agree about the islands. How nice that sounds.

Hugs
Mary

I'm glad you had a good night sleep, that always helps. I hope the Opana ER continues to work for you. I can't help on the Lortab just call the office back.
I like Pete's idea of the islands. However, they say the dry heat in Arizona is good for everything. My friend is retiring and has built a house in Sonoma AZ. She has shown me some beautiful pictures she took of the different rock formations.
I hope each day gets better as you adjust to the meds.
Take care,
Sherrie

I'm relieved everything went well! I hope you'll get a good night's sleep. Going to try that myself in a few hours even though it's not even my bed time.

Heart just woke up...feel rested

OK, I just woke up(7:30 PM)..fell asleep around 10:00 AM. It is time for my next dose of meds. I am yawning, drinking a cold diet coke, not hungry though.

I woke up about 3 hrs. earlier, sweating, and told hubby to turn on a/c! It was 69 degrees in the house...he was already freezing. I fell right back to sleep.

I am not freezing anymore..still feel sweaty, though. I need to eat something..probably an orange. I love oranges when I am not really hungry, but should eat something.

I am not in any pain.

OK, I need to go. Be back on when I wake up,again.

Yeah...beautiful wonderful sleep. I am so glad to hear you are sleeping. Enjoy it. I know what you mean about sweating. I don't know if it is the meds or not, but I finally had dh buy a window air conditioner unit and put it in the bedroom window for me. It makes such a difference in sleeping and being comfortable. Enjoy it.

Hugs

Grin morning

I awoke aroung 5:30 AM or so, hopped on NT, and started reading some post..could barely keep my eyes open. I ate an orange, and went back to bed.

It is now 10:15 AM, Thursday. I am awake and feeling pretty good. Getting use to the increase in med of Opana ER from 10 to 20 mg x 2 has been a wonderful, peaceful sleep. I so needed the catch up sleep

I hope to be posting soon on all your blogs. I am doing well.
Thank you for your sweet emails and posts.

Default Opana ER Update

Friday: 5/29/09

I have been sleeping most of the day, and feel good. Still acclimating to the new dose of Opana ER.

I woke up to hubby cooking ribs in the rotisserie..I am such a lucky woman to have my man. It will be 27 yrs on 6/8/09.

I am lucid most of the time I am awake;however, when It is time to lay down...IT IS TIME TO LAY DOWN!

No ill effects from stopping the Lortabs..Knock on Wood! I knew it wasn't doing anything..and that took 4 pills out of my daily cocktail

Won't you have a treat?

My sweet tooth has come alive with the increase dosage of the Opana ER.
