Tongue summer is almost here. I hate it

What can I say. Summertime, and the livin' is easy...NOT...I hate looking like I'm having a massive heart attack all the time. I was at the dentist getting a crown, and he was concerned that I was having problems. Noooo, just warm in here I have a window air conditioner in the bedroom now. that way I don't have to freeze everyone else out. I can live in my own little igloo. The bad part is I still have to go out and go shopping. I want fall, winter, spring, anything but summer.

Mary

Heart

Sorry to hear that you are in a lot of pain right now, Mary and that you are dreading the Summer! I really hope you will be able to get through it OK and that it doesn't flare your pain up too much!

You and me are total oposites lol! I love Summer where as I hate Winter as it makes my pain sooo much worse!!! I don't like it in the Summer though when it is too hot as that makes my pain worse also! It's SO frustrating as I can never find that 'fine balance' in temperatures!!!

You're in my thoughts and i'm sending many hugs your way!!!

Alison

I hear you !

Looking at the bright side.....at least my year round wardrobe of shorts/tanks and sundresses (I can't have anything on my neck) "match" what everyone else is wearing.

You know how people think we are "faking" or exaggerating our problems ? I'm over 40 and overweight, so when I start going bright red and sweating, people do think I might really be having a heart attack, so I finally get the "respect" that comes with having a visible disability. How sick is that ?

My other summer "pros" are............we go camping with friends a lot, so I get to enjoy socializing that I usually can't do much of because driving hurts me and.......I love life in my camper. At home when I tell my kids to pick something up/put it away, they just dump it in the next room. In the camper I can see if they are putting it away, so I get to live in a nice "clean" house.

Trying to make lemonade with those lemons !

Mary, a separate air conditioner in your 'room' is a great idea.I live in Arizona and we already had 109 in May. I survive by keeping the air reasonably cool,
(too cool for my husband, but he can take more clothes off and I can't) and I use ceiling fan and floor fan, (not directly on me but it does pull the air conditioner better in my 'special room' I am grateful for the swimming pool and swim every day. I wait till sun is nearly gone and cool off. Right now I'm swimming 1 hr and 20 minutes. I believe it has kept me mobile and walking. My toes did start to curl upward, and exercising in the pool ,swimming, and massage therapy on my feet got them back touching the floor in a few months a couple years ago. My family, husband and daughter,son-in-law, have been wonderful, with the grocery shopping, cooking, and major cleaning. I'm 61 and just to a hormone specialist. She has been doing compounding hormones for 25 years and I see her again after my tests and will start on the compounding hormones. I'm hoping that will help with my body 'heat' and lack of sleeping well. I know it's the RSD, but maybe the compounding hormones will help a little. We need all the help we can get right? Have you see Oprah and Dr. Phil show about this method of replacement? We just had company for 10 days, friends that come every 2 years, they are both in the medical field and she has been on them for about 10 years and have helped her.
Mary, now we can picture you in your igloo that Dew made a picture of,CUTE. Hope you have a good day. Your friend, loretta

Heart

I am sorry to hear that carrie and mary are feeling bad because of the high temps. I stay inside, in the a/c. It is the rain and the cold weather that really hurts me. I hope you both get relief soon

I am sorry. My pain goes way up like to an insane amount with the cold. I hate how one has to think and worry about so many outside things from weather,to people, getting sick etc with rsd and making it flare up. I hope you feel better

Default Hi Mary,

I hate the summers now too. Have for a few years. I hurt more in the summer then the winter. I can't get out and take walks due to the heat. I don't in the winter for fear of falling so the walks have gone completely. I do have a treadmill but have trouble using it as much as I'd like.

Our weather has still been cool. Lots of rain and some humidity. Not as much as Carrie has to contend with back her way. Being from Ky. I know how high the humidity gets down her way. As soon as it starts hitting 100, I will be screaming in pain. I will stay in a lot this summer.

As far as how my arm looks. It looks normal. My fingers are very thin. They have shrunk in size since getting the RSD. My hand does change color and stays cold at times. My kids got me a family ring for Christmas and was surprised that a size 7 is too big. I use to wear an 8.
