Does RSD always spread over time?
Sus66: I agree with some of the others abot your ? regarding this.I do think that you have to stay as active as you can. This will help your body to become less likely to help you fight RSD pain and the spreading over time. At least that is what I did after laying in bed feeling sorry for myself. When I started to become active my body felt so much better! I really agree with Loretta, swimming is one of the best things that you can do! Also have you looked into Pilates? I have now been doing it for over 1 year. It gently stretch's all of your body parts. You can go at any level that you what to. Remember Sus we are all here for you! I do not have all the anwser for you. I am just telling you what help me out. With Love and Care Breezy55

Welcome
Shame we have to meet in such circumstances, but Alison (Ali12) is right. This forum is a great place for info and support, no better place around. I've had RSD since 2003 and until recently it stayed only in my left knee with some spikes of movement when it was overused, but it always returned to the same place. Lately it has been bothering my foot some, but I am only slightly concerned right now. I hope (and pray) that it will leave my foot alone and go back to my knee. Seems from what I've read that the spread is normally something that occurs in the first year, although, like anything in life, there are exceptions. I gotta say, it seems that as long as you don't just rest and sit around that it is less likely to spread and/or get worse. My saving grace, I believe, is the fact that I'm poor and HAD to work to pay child support and all the other bills of life. I just popped pain killers and went to work, and although it hurt like the deal, it didn't spread or get worse. Later, Smoke

Im glad your hope is is in the Lord, and that you said you didnt want to worry,,God tells us not to worry mathew 6:25 Each person is different,,they changed the name to c{complex]rps for that very reason,no two people have the same symptoms,,i recently learned that mine spread like wild fire in a couple months is due to {stage 2] causalgia ,,meaning mine started as a result of a nerve injury,,mine was a cut nerve and entrapment,,in those cases,,it spreads at a faster rate compared to rsd 1, [which isnt due to a nerve entrapoment],,,,,,,,,,,,,,im so glad your in remission,,may God continue to heal us all ,,my hope is in him,,,, [ james 5:16 prayer of a rightous man is very powerfull and effective,],i know theres alot of God fearing people here,,,pray,,,pray,,,,then pray more,,, [ james 5:13,,,is any of you in trouble? he should pray,],,,,,,,,,,,,,may you all have a pain free evening |
Hi Bobber
My foot doc thinks there may be nerve entrapment involved in my RSD foot but he won't explore it surgically because of the RSD and he thinks that even if he did, more scar tissue would develop and the risk of a full blown RSD spread is too great. i had read a post (I believe it was an old post from this board) where a woman had all the RSD symptoms in her foot...she went to a chiropractor who did ten minutes worth of adjustments and over a few days all her RSD symptoms disappeared. She then had to have a lot of therapy to regain the strength and mobility in her foot...Wow..that's a happy ending!!! How does your doc know you have nerve entrapment? My whole foot is a bundle of burn and nerve pain...each step is a crisis! and it carries over to my right foot and lower leg.. There are so many of us in the same RSD boat with our feet and legs!! Take care, Bobber Hope4thebest |

RSD/CRPS has a mind of its own;specifically, it will or will not spread. You have rec. very good suggestions in this post. My suggestion is simple, care for yourself. Hard to do if you have kids, husband, family, friends...but it is a necessity, not a luxury. Sometimes you have to rest, and that is what you need to do. You don't have to dance to anyone's drum..dance to your drum. Dew |
That'd be great

Good to know
Good info to have. I find myself sitting around at home on the weekends cause I hurt and don't want to get up and around. I have to cause I have a family to feed and kids to taxi around. Ha I am thankful that my hubby has a good job and allows me to stay home. I have been concerned about the spreading 'cause I am having mirror pain in the other hand and my rt hip gives out on me sometimes when I walk. The pain moves around from my hips to the knees, calves, feet, etc. It doesn't stay in the same place, which is my biggest concern. Isn't that one of the symptoms? I guess I could hope I am just getting old. Ha! That's a switch, huh? Tee hee! Anywho, thanks for your encouragement. Suz:winky:
