I just posted my daughter's hyperbarics/rsd testimonial under another thread (remission through hyperbarics). We have learned a lot about these treatments as we have gone along, and I would be very happy to answer any questions that I can. I believe with all my heart that hyperbarics would help many RSD sufferers; but tragically most are never given the opportunity to receive them.
As written in Sarah's testimonial, her initial treatments were at 2.5 ATA. As she went along, they were reduced to 2.0 ATA because the deeper treatments became too fatiguing. I have recently read of others being treated at even deeper depths than she was; but I would certainly want to be sure that treatments were being done in a reputable facility because of the risk of oxygen toxicity and other complications. Purchasing a mild chamber for our home has allowed Sarah to remain in remission. I believe that her home chamber is approximately 1.4 ATA. I suspect that it is like most any other drug, you probably should not receive a higher dose than is necessary. I believe that there is a program where arrangements can be made for payments made in a clinical setting (up to $6,000 ??) to be applied towards the purchase of a home chamber, if that proves to be the best course of action. I understand that it needs to be arranged prior to starting treatments ... unfortunately we were not aware of this at the time. I wish you much success in your search for help. Please let me know if I can provide further information. Jeanne |
Are you saying that if we pay $6,000 for treatment in the facility, this can be applied to the purchase of a home unit? Do most free-standing clinics offer this option?
|
I would suggest that you contact the International Hyperbarics Association at ihausa.org. They should be able to give you details about which clinics offer the reimbursement program.
Also, I thought that I would mention that I recently received an e-mail about a "hyperbarics vacation". It included 40 treatments and 26 nights in a local hotel for a cost of $5,000. (Evidently they had received some kind of grant.) I can forward that e-mail on to you if you like. I believe one location was in Wisconsin and the other California. Sarah's treatments were $200 each and she had 75 of them. Thankfully, we were able to stay at a Ronald McDonald House because she is still considered a child. Looking back, we should have purchased our home chamber sooner ... but as they say, hind sight is 20/20. Jeanne |
So she must have had 2 treatments a day? I would be interested in the e-mail. I have found a chamber here in MN; they have a protocol of 40 treatments over the course of 8 weeks. Thanks for the info!

Actually, my daughter did treatments only once a day (90 minutes each). There were a couple times when she did attempt two in a day, but that proved to be way too much for her. I will send you that e-mail when I have access to the computer that it is on (probably later today). Is your e-mail address in your profile. If not, you can send me a private message.
Have a nice day!! Jeanne |
Jeanne,
Can you forward that email to me also? Do i need to list my email address on this post? Thanks! Numb |
If you send me a private message with your e-mail address, I will forward that on to you. Have a great day!!

I need to know what the optimum protocol for treating RSD with HBOT is (pressure and % of oxygen). How many treatments are typically necessary?
How are relapses prevented? Thanks rvanzella |
