It most definitely is a drastic treatment option and is not the right choice for some, but for others it is the only choice. Not only did I have full body RSD, but I had internal RSD as well. It had spread into my digestive system, making it impossible for me to eat or to hold down any food. It then went into my respiratory system, making it very difficult to breath and with every breath I took, it felt like razor blades running up and down my chest. I also had it spread into my larynx so that my larynx was going into spasm making it impossible for me to talk as well as closing off my airway and making it near impossible to breath. I had to have injections of botox into my airway and larynx to paralyze the muscles so I didn't have to have a trach put in. This treatment is definitely not for everyone, nor should it be. It is only offered to those that have CRPS 1, and even at that, they only take the worst cases. Germany actually started doing the treatment in 1999 and up until it went on hold last year, they had not even put 60 people into the coma (and at least five of those 60 are people like myself who had it done twice). Fortunately most people do not need a treatment as radical and dangerous than this, but unfortunately, some people do. I just pray that all of you are able to find relief from a much safer, and cheaper treatment.
