Thumbs Up PRP - Platelet Rich Plasma Treatment

My pain specialist/vascular physician is recommending PRP. Anyone familiar with or been treated using PRP? Did insurance cover. He states the goal is 80% improvement in pain. Know it's being used for some sports injuries but haven't had time to really investigate. If insurance won't cover would be moot.

Haven't participated in this forum for a while. Actually had good summer until the last 4 weeks. Got up, drove to work, and worked for couple of hours before pain really set in. Now back to pain upon getting up and getting nervous about the coming winter. I've made it 5 years with RSD since my accident and goal is 5 1/2 more years to retire. But it gets harder particularly as my memory seems to shrink daily. Hope everyone is having some peace in pain and doing okay.

Lynnie

I've never heard of it as a treatment for sports injuries, let alone of it being a treatment for RSD.

I'm very curious as to what the outcome would be... and what the reasoning behind it is, and why it would be good for RSD.

Are you talking about Dr. Schwartz?? I heard him speaking about it at the RSD Conference this year. I talked to one lady that had it done & got worse, but everyone is different. Wish I knew more about it.

Wink

Here is a pretty interesting article explaining the process:

http://www.aaos.org/news/bulletin/sep07/research2.asp

How it would pertain to RSD? Haven't found that yet..still looking.

I found this.http://www.treatingpain.com/diagnosi...diagnosis.html
My wife went to this place who made her worse because they did absolutely nothing. And to add insult to injury they refused to sign her disability papers on top of that which caused her to lose her job.
