I could not ask for a better birthday present than this latest update:
"We are full of joy to report that Claire has been classified as being in "complete remission". There is no evidence of disease! This is wonderful news. Yes, she still has about six months of treatment ahead of her, but going into her transplant already in remission is a huge praise. We also got some more details about the remainder of Claire's protocol. I will just update as we go along because my brain is fried for the day. Transplant is set for 12/27. I will update the restrictions as time approaches. It's going to be tough the next couple of months, but God is much bigger than all of it."

So glad to hear the news about Claire! I hope the family has a wonderful, joyful and blessed Christmas!! Dealing with NB is sooo hard on these kids and the families.
I will be praying for continued remission and success in the transplant. |

Today's update:
"I am going to try and fill you guys in, but Seth and I are wiped out from the consent appointment at Egleston. We met with the BMToncologist, psychologist, social worker and somebody else that I can't remember. We had to talk about a lot and it just wiped us out. Even though this is going to be tough, there is a lot to be grateful for. First, I am beyond grateful that Claire is using her own stem cells. Since she does not use a donor's stem cells, it is more about recovery from the high dose chemo that will be getting than anything else. She will get four days of chemotherapy that runs 24hrs. a day. This will completely wipe out her bone marrow and making her very susceptible to infections and other complications. The stem cells she will receive (donated by herself) will help her body recover from that and create new bone marrow. I believe I gave the specific timeline in a journal post on September and that has not changed. We go in 12/27/10. I don't want to go into all the possible side effects, but please pray specifically for her hearing, kidneys and liver. Other than the nausea, vomitting, mouth sores and digestive tract sores, we are concerened about those main functions. So me, Seth and my mom will be taking turns staying with Claire. Lord willing I will be home on the weekends with the boys and with Claire during the week. Seth and mom will be with her through the weekends. Claire will be in isolation which means she can have any adult visitor as long as you are not sick. Children under 12 years of age are not allowed. This means Claire will not see her brothers for the stay (3-4 weeks). I also confirmed that you do not have to have the flu shot to visit Claire. We are so happy that we get to be home for Christmas. We plan to enjoy every minute of it. The Lord Jesus Christ is our hope and anchor. We believe Him when He says, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made in perfect in weakness." God has not given us explanations, but He has given us many promises and we choose to believe in Him. Even though we do not have the strength to endure these times, we know He does and we are counting on Him, once again, to carry us through for His glory."

Thank you for the link to the article. Claire is such a beautiful little girl, as is her mother. I was happy to see the pictures. It was a very nice article. I'll bet is is really hard on Claire's brothers too.
I am still praying for the entire family. I hope they, and you, can have a blessed Christmas.
