I innocently used a term, that has mixed connotations.
I've changed it... sorry...: (been reading too many British novels of late!)

LOl mrsD...must say I dont know the other connotation and took it as exactly what he was....exhaustapated He has been playful today tho still very sleepy. It was such a joy to wake to his morning song today
Well, Shadow is making friends with the newlings, tho young Catsby sure is no lady He got a swat on the nose when he ventured too close to her. Twisp and he are going to bond quickly I think..Twisp is clearly the smaller and weaker one of the two sisters Twilight is not amused.....he has spent the last year becoming Mr Dominant here and even Mama Snowball gives way to him ............but he is oggling them rather than hissing and snarling soooooo I am hopeful for acceptance. the two older cats have a "wo boy...here we go again...more yung 'uns to disrupt snooze time and eat our food" attitude LOL May I introduce you to The Spice Girls................. Ms Twisp Spice is looking at the camera while Ms Catsby Spice gobbles the food and Twisp fascinated by the sunlight reflecting off the hardwood floor Ms Catsby Spice watching the approach of Twilight cos she has his toy

gotta be careful with "slang".... I'm glad I didn't offend anyone.
Those are big kittens.... at least you have males to introduce to. Males like females, even if they are neutered. I think Twilight will come around. I can imagine your other two however are not happy. There will be food wars..revenge eating...prepare for that! Don't be surprised if Shadow and Twilight and the others get a little porky. How are the Spice girls doing with YOU and your son, husband? Are they affectionate? (I sure hope they are not feral! --that would be a bummer.) They are the SAME color...how coincidential is that! Thanks for the pics...they are great! Have you checked the girls for fleas yet? Oreo came from a loving home, and was very affectionate, but she really had terrible fleas. I combed her twice a day and with a flea comb and drowned them in dish soap before they could jump onto our other kitties or floors. Just a suggestion.

well I have a surprise for you mrsD.......I guess I may never have mentioned that Twilight and Shadow were feral. Twilight looks so Abyssinian now that he is a yearling. I must try to get a picture of him with that look. So haughty and regal, peering from totally upturned yellow slits for eyes.
Yet when he goes wide eyed and and puffs up his cheeks in playfulness, he and Shadow are clearly brothers. I have never seen *that* look on Shadow. Anyway, they were from a feral litter taken in to a pastor's house after they were found living behind a shed. The family cared for them while they contacted a local cat placement group there (near Disney) who then put pics of them online, with history, for adoption. The rescue agency took care of the initial cleaning, worming, vaccinations and other veterinary care, and of course, the neuterings...when we nearly lost our Shadow....... We had adopted them under the clause that we would take them earlier than they normally adopt out, on condition we brought them in for neutering to the rescue group's vet when they were still so young These gals thankfully will be under the care only of our special vet, who really helped us get Shadow back after the seizures and blindness episodes. And he doesnt use ketamine nor spay or neuter that young! Both Twilight & Shadow are very affectionate, and even tho they had never lived indoors before us, they have been amazingly careful with our stuff...even tho Twi can sometimes make a low thoated growl that I have never heard from any other tomcat and he goes racing up the stairs or thru the house at such a speed but he has so far not broken anything and is quite the most nimble and agile cat I have ever had. Shadow is a very gentle and oh so affectionate cat, Twi is affectionate in a very feline way.on *his* terms LOL tho he was so loving on the night Shadow was missing, sleeping curled right near my head (he usually prefers the foot end of the bed) and purring at me most of that sleepless night .... They were thankfully already litter trained and somewhat *tamed* when we got them, but they had never lived indoors, only in the screened porch at their foster home. This was them when they came to us Shadow Twilight The difference between them and the new kitties are eye color ...Catsby and Twisp have green eyes while Twi and Shadow are now totally copper eyed.(were greenish copper when we got them) But honestly, altho the other 2 were younger, the similarities in looks and temperament are so uncanny in these two girls...Catspy is a ruffian, loml as is our Twilight (he hides in places and pounces out at Mama Snowball and dances around her lightly slapping till she goes back into her basket and Caspy is already arching and hissing in that comical kitty way at the older cats, whereas Twisp is shyer and seems to want to make friends, just like Shadow was when he first came here. the Spice Girls are definitely litter trained and I am estimating maybe 6 weeks? They will be going for the new kitten exam etc at our vet tomorrow, but they do look healthy and are definitely used to indoors, so I dont think they are feral. They have huge appetites, but dont appear undernourished tho Twisp is a bit scrawnier and doesnt have the chubby little kitten round tummy that Catsby still has...no fleas that I have found and ears are mite free, no sign of ringworm etc. they really do appear cared for. Amazed someone would leave them on a doorstep................but thankful I was there just at that moment when they were about to be turned in to the county shelter. I saw the stray area and the thought of those 2 lil ones in ones of those bleak cages ....ugh! anyways... I am rambling...no secret when it comes to cats I can go on and on and on here is today's pic of our Shadow sitting in his sunny spot on my desk. Still a bit dishevelled looking from a looooong nap thanks once again to each and every one who posted here, and to anyone who read and said a prayer for Shadow's safe return. I cant begin to say how thankful I am that he is home safe. We have a bond with him that does very very deep ........our miracle kitty

You know there is feral, and then there is FERAL...
Tippy our middle kitty, was a "farm" cat. She and her littermates were rescued from an outdoor cat who lived on a farm near a subdivision. I suppose you could call that "feral". The woman who did this, trapped her mother, and took her to the vet, where we adopted Tippy. These cats lived outdoors, but were not "feral" at all. Tippy obviously has Siamese traits...the apple head. All the kittens in her litter were black. Some of them were aggressive, but she was not. The woman who rescued the litter, raised them in a garage, where her boyfriend restored antique cars. Tippy had never seen a house before. I'll never forget how excited she was in our home...she'd look at something, and come back to me, and purr, and run off and explore some more. Just like a toddler. I have seen really wild feral kittens. They were not like Tippy at all. I suppose it depends on how many generations that live wild, to become untamed and mean. I really suspect that those people who donated your Spice girls to the shelter were really the birth home. I just think they were. For what it is worth, our vet thinks that barn cats...cats that live with humans but outside and are fed by humans, are really smarter and more clever than other cats. While Tippy is cool, she is also kind of weird in that she is afraid of alot of things. Perhaps being cooped up in a garage for several weeks, made her afraid--loud noises, tools etc? She has never been aggressive. But on a humorous note...she does occasionally let out a SCREAM when an interloper cat comes in our yard-- she screams right thru the window at it. Scared the dickens out of US one morning at 6am.! We didn't know she had it in her! So when I say "feral" I mean really FERAL... there is a difference! I hope all goes well at the vets tomorrow. If the Spice Girls get amber eyes with age...it is going to be a trip telling them apart! LOLOL

What a happy ending Chemar. I'm so glad he was found And those two news ones are just adorable. I just love it when people rescue kittens from uncertainty. I thought I'd hit the $139 million lottery last night and be off to buy my farm to save all the kittens and cats I could. But I didn't even have one number.
I'm so glad everything turned out and congrats and the new additions

Very glad your kitty has returned!
Someone innocently told me a horrid story about a robbery in our area and the family pet, a dog similar to my own, was also stolen. I have started locking the house better and using the alarm more. Why? You got it...thinking about the possible loss of my little loved one is very upsetting! They bring such joy to our hearts. |

awwww BJ that kitty pic is just so cute
thanks again so much to all of you for these messages....... My son has been reading them and is just so touched by your care. we just got back from the vet and the kitties have checked out just fine. He estimates them to be around 7-8 weeks and weighed in at Twisp @ 3.5lb and Catsby a pound heavier some ear mites to be treated, but no fleas or parasites. and Mr Shadow is a-ok too
