It's hard to imagine indeed. So glorious and glowing angels we shall all be! Sitting in the presence of Jesus and our loved ones that have gone on before us. It's hard to imagine meeting a grandparent, a great grandparent that we never knew during our time here on earth...yet it's said that we shall "know all whom we meet". Serving Our Lord is what it'll all be about..I wonder if we'll even think of our families here on earth?? I think it won't matter, we'll all be GOD'S servants at that time. With all that is going on stressful in my own life here on earth right now...I feel this inner peace. A feeling that we KNOW can only be the work of the Holy Spirit telling us "God will take care of you". Can you imagine meeting Abraham Lincoln and George Washington? What about all the civil war people...will they know us too? It's such a wonderful feeling!! Thanks for this thread!!!

Northern Lights

it's always bothered me, because I guess my imagination conjures up a place where we're *spiritual* beings, and are long past the things of the flesh, (food, s*x, drugs, rock 'n roll), and have moved onto a higher plane.

Cartwheel Galaxy - A new image from NASA's Galaxy Evolution Explorer completes a multi-wavelength, neon-colored portrait of the enormous Cartwheel galaxy.

on the other hand, if one goes by the criteria *certain people* have set, I'm doomed to an eternity being ravaged in the lake of fire.

so maybe dreaming of the possibilities of Heaven (on my part) is wasted effort?

see that lil teensy-tiny DOT? that's us!

so, since God built THAT, Heaven must be AMAZING!

Your welcome Corkbird,

My anchor is in Heaven, my true home and final resting place. Thanks for sharing.

If I knew I was going to win a 100 million dollar lottery a week from now it would probably make the stresses I'd face less stressful.

Knowing that I'm going to Heaven, where 100 million dollars pales in comparison, helps me get through whatever is placed before me. There is reward in Heaven and we are often reminded so in the Bible:

Colossians 3:2 "Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth."

I find when I do this, first, the rest of my day goes so much easier. Even if it is a mundane 12-hour shift doing piecemeal work, as I have done before; or, a long war tour in desert sands and dust. It's O.K. these things shall pass; but the glory which is with Christ, even now, cannot be taken away.

CayoKay,

Awesome and amazing pictures!!!

In his book Heaven by Randy Alcorn, he goes on for 550ish pages about our Heavenly bodies and the good things that, continuing from here, will go on forever - and, why wouldn't they.

I mean, if God is good then, therefore, all that is good here would continue and, why not? Randy is humble and doesn't suggest to know all the answers and agrees that everything he writes will not be agreed with - but, it was an interesting book and one of the reasons for this post.

Thanks for the wonderful glimpses. YES, I agree - we are soooooooooooooo
small and there is so much - Eternity will never be boring - for this we can be assured.

A friend of mine asked me: "won't it get boring just worshipping God all the time?"

I said, "Worship takes many forms. If I start, in my backyard, with a clean slate - just mud. Then I plant trees and provide water and create a habitat suitable for all forms of wildlife to thrive and frollick - butterflies and birds and deer and rabbit and such. How would these creatures worship me - their provider?

I mean, they couldn't "speak" to me. But, if they played in my garden - well, that'd be a way to pay homage to me. I would love them the more for it.

I think God does the same with us. He's given us life, life everlasting through His Son. If we love Him with all our heart and mind, and live fully - here, with that hope and expectation of life eternal with him - with gusto and comedy and drama and all that He has given us - then we affirm Him, we worship - for all intensive purposes Him, by such a LIFE.
