Lightbulb Thanksgiving 2020

As the USA prepares to celebrate Thanksgiving 2020, for most it is a very different experience than previous ones.

The Pandemic has caused many to change their usual family & friends gathering plans, too many have lost loved ones, or are dealing with illness, and so many are facing hardship due to loss of work or reduced hours etc etc.

I hope that despite the burdens and cares, there will still be much to be thankful for. Often it is the simple things that can bring joy to our hearts.

I was reflecting on this today while talking with a friend, and was reminded of one of my favorite poems that so clearly expresses God's continuous working for good in our lives, even when we only see a tangled mess.

I pray you will have a very safe and Happy Thanksgiving no matter the circumstances. It is not the abundance of food on the table that matters, but the abundance of gratitude in our hearts.

Quote:
“The Weaver”

“My life is but a weaving
Between my God and me.
I cannot choose the colors
He weaveth steadily.

Oft’ times He weaveth sorrow;
And I in foolish pride
Forget He sees the upper
And I the underside.

Not ’til the loom is silent
And the shuttles cease to fly
Will God unroll the canvas
And reveal the reason why.

The dark threads are as needful
In the weaver’s skillful hand
As the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern He has planned

He knows, He loves, He cares;
Nothing this truth can dim.
He gives the very best to those
Who leave the choice to Him.”

My thanksgivings have been changing for years, family dying, people coming down with more health issues, going out to restaurants with friends, having my immediate family bring me some of their foods, and now this year my friend went to Bristol Farms market for their hot turkey take out food, and it was so mobbed that she picked up the food yesterday and mine is about gone. I have nice memories of many past thanksgivings.....and with thanks...and good foods...and family/friends...

I hope that all Americans stay safe during Thanksgiving which may not be easy for all because of Covid-19.
