Thank you all so much for your prayers.

Naturally, being an MSer, I was a little concerned when she was explaining to me what was going on. Nothing hurt except for an area on her neck but she was so dizzy she couldn't move and her vision was blurry. My concern of course was that something neurological was going on - whether she pinched a nerve or something else. I was able to get a hold of her dr right before they closed and they said to bring her to the ER right away.

She had vertigo to the point where any type of movement caused some dizziness. The ER doctor found that she had nystagmus when he examined her and therefore, felt that something was irritating her vestibular nerve - more than likely fluid in her inner ear. She had the classic signs of vestibular neuritis. They treated her with Valium and Antivert. After several hours she was finally able to move without any major dizziness and they released her with instructions/prescriptions, etc. and we need to follow up with her doctor. Should she get to where she is immobilized again, I need to bring her back in.

I have to say that while the ride to the ER was tense, the way home was very entertaining. While she may have been a little dizzy, she could have cared less. LOL. I did learn from her on the way home that stressed spelled backwards is dessert. DD18 about drove off the road from laughing so hard.

Again, thank you all for your prayers and well wishes.

Hi Tricia. I just got to the thread this morning and I am glad it is leading to a calm ENDING. Is she sleeping? Keep us posted today as to her progress.

In the meantime, I like that stressed is desserts spelled backward. Next time I feel badly, I am headed for the chocolate! Cyn

so glad to see that you posted an update about your daughter, Trish !!

this was the VERY FIRST thread I checked, (as a mom, I worry....)

and yeah, I know about the entertaining part.

my SD (then 16) had her wisdom teeth removed, and was high as the proverbial KITE.

the drive home was quite amusing, as she wanted to float out the window, and fly away like a bird... giggling and silly-willy.

it took all three of us to convince her that she really needed to keep her seatbelt ON, and not try to soar above the world.

we distracted her with songs... like:

Did you ever know that you're my hero,
and ev'rything I would like to be?
I can fly higher than an eagle,
'cause you're the wind beneath my wings.

and:

And I'm flying so high
high off the ground
when you're around
And I can feel your high
touching me inside
and it's too much to hide

and:

On the wings of love
Up and above the clouds
The only way to fly
Is on the wings of love
On the wings of love
Only the two of us
Together flying high
Flying high
Upon the wings of love
