How to Get Sick:
A Modern Prescription for Illness How to Get Sick: Take Lots of Medication There may be a time and place for prescription medicines, but many create more health problems than they cure. Often, they simply treat symptoms rather than the root causes of illness. Additionally, every medication has a side effect. Medications such as antibiotics, oral contraceptives, and corticosteroids may cause major gastrointestinal and liver problems, damage the immune system, and alter enzyme function. For example, taking a baby aspirin each day to prevent heart attacks can have a dangerous downside. Aspirin can cause bleeding in the intestinal track and can be toxic to the liver. You get similar health benefits with no side effects by consuming foods in The Maker's Diet such as cold-water fish, fruits and vegetables high in antioxidants, and certain botanicals that naturally reduce the Cox-2 enzyme that causes inflammation. PS: The Antibiotic Bandage Are you setting yourself up for illness? If you repeatedly use broad-spectrum antibiotics, you may encourage the overgrowth of dangerous bacteria in your body. These organisms recolonize quickly after you finish a round of antibiotic treatment, causing more disease symptoms. In many cases, the condition then won't respond to additional drug treatment. In this way, taking too many antibiotics becomes a temporary bandage placed over more serious health issues with far-reaching consequences. you can get these suggestions free from Dr. Jordan in your own daily emails- if you wish? go to - www.gardenoflife.com

Take a Deep Breath
Want to boost your health? Here's a simple solution: Take a breath. Your lungs are larger at the bottom than the top, but most Americans are "top breathers." We live on the shallow breaths common to the sick and the sleeping. Learn to breathe from the gut. You know you are breathing correctly — from your diaphragm — if you see your stomach move in and out. If the only thing that moves or expands is your chest, then you are still taking only shallow breaths. Deep breathing literally massages and moves the soft internal organs inside your rib cage, allowing your lymphatic system to rid itself of collected toxins. Only deep breathing allows you to tap this bonus power in your lower lungs. Singers, stage performers, broadcast announcers, and professional athletes pay great sums to voice and dialogue coaches to learn how to breathe and project through diaphragm breathing. With some practice, you too can take advantage of your lungs' full power.

How to Get Sick: Wear Synthetic Fabrics
The ideal clothing for the human body is created from the Maker's natural fibers. Wool and cotton "breathe" and can manage human perspiration while preserving a balanced body temperature, whether you're in a hot or cold climate. Synthetic fibers often come from petroleum-based resins and other unnatural sources. Unfortunately, conventionally grown cotton is often contaminated with pesticides and chemical dyes, so choose your clothing carefully, and do your homework before you visit the department store. Jordan's Tip of the Day From the author of The Maker's Diet Know Your Organics How do you know if that T-shirt is made out of organic cotton? Chances are it'll say so on the label. Organic products, including cotton, are certified by independent and government agencies, and guarantee that what you're wearing was grown without chemicals. With cotton, the growing field must be free of chemicals for at least three years before it can be certified organic.

A Moment to Say Thanks
Have you said a prayer of thanksgiving today? We often say prayers of petition — when we ask God for help — and prayers of intercession — when we ask God to help our friends or loved ones. But a third kind of prayer — a prayer of thankfulness — is vital to our spiritual well-being. Take a moment to consider what you're thankful for today, whether it's a small victory over health symptoms, or a major life milestone. Thankfulness paves the way for blessings ahead. The Bible tells us: "Praise the Lord, I tell myself; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, I tell myself, and never forget the good things he does for me. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. He ransoms me from death and surrounds me with love and tender mercies." (Psalm 103:1–4) A gratitude journal ~ Write Your Gratitude Down A gratitude journal can be an invaluable resource, especially on days when you're feeling upset or unwell. Write down at least one thing you are thankful for each day. Your entry doesn't need to be complicated: A sunny day after a week of rain can be enough to inspire you. In difficult moments, you'll have a list to reflect upon and to share with friends

__________ Here is todays email from Jordan rubin - Go With Your Gut People are taught from childhood to believe that the brain is essentially the "boss" of the body. While it is true that the brain is the centerpiece of our mental capacity and nervous system, it is also a fact that there are nearly one hundred million nerve cells in the gut alone — about the same number found in the spinal cord! Because so many of your nerve cells are located in the gut, your capacity for feeling and for emotional expression is in large part dependant upon this sensitive area.depends primarily on the gut (and only to a lesser extent, on your brain). By the time you add together the number of nerve cells in the esophagus, stomach, and small and large intestines, there are more nerve cells in the overall digestive system than there are in the peripheral nervous system. Most people would say the brain alone determines whether you are happy or sad, but they have their facts skewed. It seems the gut is more responsible than we ever imagined for how we feel. ~~~~~~~~~ Body Talk Ever had butterflies before a major presentation or a stomachache after making a big decision? This is your body's way of responding to stressful situations. Notice that the action isn't happening between your ears. There's scientific evidence that the body may have two emotional centers — in the brain and in the gut. Next time your body talks, pay careful attention to what it's saying.

Healing Oil of the Week: Rose of Sharon
The Rose of Sharon, mentioned in Isaiah (35:1) and in the Song of Solomon (2:1) was probably the Crimson Spot Rockrose, or Cistus ladanifer, which still blossoms on Mount Carmel today. Bearing delicate white flowers that have a bright red spot at the heart of each petal, the plants grow well in mountainous and warm climates. You don't have to cultivate them in your garden, however, to reap the healthful benefits of this sacred plant. Throughout history, its essential oil has been used as a perfume and to elevate mood. Today, you'll find Rose of Sharon oil in antiseptics, immune system enhancers, and relaxation aids. It's in the Air If you want the warm, almost honey-like scent of Rose of Sharon wafting throughout your home, try an essential oil diffuser. There are all kinds — from simple clay pots to electric fans that can diffuse scents into large areas. Many are inexpensive and can make it easy to enjoy essential oils every day by Jordan Rubin
