Twink, my Dad was the same way. We had his air conditioner going full blast in his hospice room.....and it was mid-January! We all sat around with coats on and he had a sheet and the flimsy hospital gown. It may be because he's dehydrated....I know my Dad was. Your Dad's sense of humor sounds just like my Dad's. He had his up until the very end. Always flirting with the nurses and cracking jokes. I think he was trying to make things easier for all of us. Bless his heart. I'm sorry for the heartache that you're going to suffer but so glad you have the opportunity to be with him. Being with my Dad when he passed was the hardest yet most rewarding thing I have ever done. I got to actually hold his hand and be right there with him when he passed. It's an experience I'll never, ever forget. I didn't want to let him go but knew that he was ready and needed to make the journey. Hugs to you, Ro.

I talked briefly to Rachelle yesterday, and she thought the end was near. I was with my father (along with my family) when he passed away. It was a very calm, yet very sad moment. He had tears on his face as he took his last breath. My thought and prayers are with you Rachelle at this difficult time. Don't try to be the strong one all of the time. Tell your family you need them.

I've had lots of support from my family and DH has been great. When I returned from vacation on Jan. 12th, I began staying with Dad. At that time he was still able to get himself up and shaved and dressed, come into the kitchen and sit down for breakfast. Every single day he has lost some ability. Just when I'd think he didn't have any more to lose, he started talking out of his mind a couple of nights ago. BUT, thank goodness, I realized last night that he was "with it" and had a really special time with him. The Lord can take him whenever he wants. I know Mom and his family will be happy to greet him on the other side. But there will sure be an empty place here on earth that nothing else can fill. Sure going to miss him.

Letting go is so hard. You've been so fortunate to have had him in your life for so long. Truly blessed. You're in my prayers, Ro.
