Terry, schizophrenia and temporal lobe epilepsy are not the same thing.
Usually the clinical signs of schizophrenia first present in late adolescence (about 18 y.o.). It is very rare for a mental health professional to recommend steroid injections (which are not an Rx for schizophrenia) or any other kind of medication before a detailed clinical investigation. I am not a mental health professional but sought the views of my partner before posting this. She concurs and is a mental health professional - a clinical psychologist with experience of working with children and adolescents.
