Exclamation We HAVE A DATE!

Just got the call, we HAVE A DATE for the permanent implant!! 29 June, bright and early at 6:00 a.m. !!
Thank you God! My thanks to all of you who have prayed that this would hit the calendar! You folks ROCK!
Probably we should pray for my docs too.

The scheduler from my doc's office called and my wife was hooting and hollering in the background. She surely knew we were thrilled at the news.

I am overcome with emotion at knowing the date for better management of my pain is nearing with certainty. What a wonderful blessing to know!

Sign me off as OVERCOME,
Mark56

I believe there has to be a date in there for Cheryl, ABSOLUTELY, and soon!

It's funny, or a realistic after effect of learning pain might be better after a while. I cried. And cried. And OH, the headache, now that was interesting.... evidently the pent up emotion surrounding the patient waiting for a means to better manage the pain.

Certainly Cheryl is similarly situated, so for her, and for others who now wait, I give prayers. May Rae's pocket be filled to the top of the placket with dates for all of us who wait. I know she must have them in there somewhere.

Thank you, Rae, for sharing this beautiful art. It is so meaningful, so compelling of thought, remembrance of He who has gone before, so drawing of one to prayer.

Blessings,
Mark

Smile 17 June

Getting ready for 29 June at 0600 for the real deal, the real McCoy, the technology which proved so effective during my Trial implant and I am excited! God is good! So, I have done the pre-surgery interview, you know, the:
1. Where the surgery center is located, and what time to show up
2. Where do we park so we can get me in the doors with my wheelchair
3. PLEASE have NOTHING to eat or drink, no breath mints, no sip of liquid, no hint of anything passing my lips after midnight the night before. Leave all valuables home, but bring proof of identification [isn't that a valuable?]
4. DO take my prescribed pain meds the night before as per usual
5. NO aspirin, vitamin E or such for two weeks in advance of procedure
6. The FULL health history, identification, meds prescribed, vitamins and supplements consumed, prior surgeries [quite a few- there were not enough blanks], have I ever smoked, drank liquor, partaken of street drugs [I BEG YOUR PARDON, MOI, ICH, YO, ME, NOT IN THIS LIFETIME EVER BEFORE OR AFTER- IF I HAVE ANYTHING TO SAY ABOUT IT] As a child I pestered my Dad to stop smoking until one day he did just that, QUIT, best present he ever gave me, well in addition to life and introduction to my faith
7. Disclosure of any allergens at all [should I have disclosed that I abhor liver prepared in any fashion at all?], and nowadays most especially latex and the like since it is used in procedures for sterile environments and the like
8. I put in a call to the lab scheduling folks because they are likely going to want lab work on my BLOOD beforehand, and the like
9. Acknowledged the HIPAA privacy stuff and that all manner of imponderables could happen, even so I have GREAT faith in the care of my surgeon and the team
10. Sent the whole kit and kaboodle [what is that anyway?] by click of the mouse so the registration is complete

THEN, and since my daughter, now on her way to college thank you, is interested in pursuing medicine as a career, and most especially neurosciences, she was invited by my surgeon to observe a more involved back surgery on the day after mine. She is in. A BIG thank you to my surgeon and others like him who take interest in the youth who express desire to follow a medical career!! So Em will see surgery as it is done the day after I am fixed up. She is looking forward to it.

Whew!! So much done in such little time!
On to another day toward 29 June,
It's coming,
I am glad,
ASAP,
Mark56

That is soooo awesome!!! I have the St. Jude ANS implants and love them so. It always thrills me to hear when they work for another because I know how much the crippling pain destroys quality of life. I read some of your posts and you mentioned the burning pain. For me the SCS helps the inner leg burning but not surface skin burning ( rep said implants work from inside out) but that's okay....I'm still as THRILLED as can be for all the relief it provides me

Glad your daughter got the okay to observe. Text books can only teach so much! Plus, the stories she'll be able to tell you
