Default pools and scs... please read

On the main RSD page, a lady asked about her SCS in pools.

"just wondering if any one else has this problem, I have the SCS and have no problem showering but I recently tried to get in the pool with my girls and couldnt believe how strong the vibrations were it went all the way to my neck..and its only in my legs. also we recently went on a trip and driving through the mountains was horriable because again the vibrations were to strong. but to turn my device down the spasms in my leg made it where i could barely walk. anyone who has any answers please let me know...I cant imagine not going in my pool again." momof3

Rrae noted that her doctor told her to shut hers off, and now i remember vaguely back that mine did as well.

NOTE: TURN OFF YOUR STIMULATOR WHEN SWIMMING IN A POOL OR JACUZZI!!!

when i had mine, i was told NEVER to go in a jacuzzi. they said the heat would damage the unit?? that's what they told me anyway.

i can't see why being at higher altitudes would make the unit zap you more. that's really weird. but anything is possible i guess. does it say anything in the handbook they gave you? I got one when mine was implanted, but i don't remember what it said. LOL. you poor thing ~ darned if you do, and darned if you don't. hugs, lee

Interesting about the never in jacuzzis. I have a Medtronics, and they told me Jacuzzis and hot baths are okay as long as you dont have any discomfort around the battery pack, and dont stay in there for long periods of time. Thanks for the info!!

Altitude....interesting. I wonder if that is why I tend to hurt more where the battery is and the leads/paddle are before a thunderstorm....something with the barometric or atmospheric pressure...I wonder if that would be the same as altitude????? Or maybe I'm just off my rocker???? Hahahaha!

Wink Altitude

Hmmm....... living in Colorado would make it pretty easy and quick to test the change in altitude theory of effect on the stim output. Once we get this rascal tuned in and turned on, I will have to give it a go and find out personally. I will let you know.

If it's my butt that is bionic, I don't think you want me to show you my super power

It's been a really long week (even though it was only a 4 day work week, I've put in about 42 hours in those 4 days) so for my bad taste in jokes tonight.

And yet your remark conjures in my mind thoughts of a cartoon favorite of our children when they were little. The character rises up and proclaims "I Have The POWER!" I reckon your power is thus displayed. Maybe we can all start laughing at ourselves. Sure to help some of the bad times go by....
