Default First appt. with rep., post surgery...advice??

I've been keeping a diary as Jackie suggested and will take that to my first post-surgery appt. with my rep. tomorrow. Is there any advice/suggestions you have as to how to make the best out of the appt.?

I wrote down where I still hurt, but not sure if that's imp. right now since I'm only 3 weeks post-surgery and was told things would change over next 2-3 months. So, not sure just what all to tell him or how much time to make him spend with me in order to try to find the "perfect" settings on my remotes at this point.

I am finding that I'm having to recharge my lumbar remote every 3 days, for about one hour, but my cervical remote lasts about twice as long. Was told to expect that.

Nausea is a little better and have been off all pain meds. for 5 days now (one dancing for every day) I still think the nausea is neck-related but hopefully will get some answers tomorrow.

Jackie: Good luck at your appt. tomorrow...happy "tweaking"

Gosh, I'm finding it weird that so many are having trouble with nausea now. When I had mine, no one had any nausea ~ that was back in 1999-2000. Strange.

Anyway, I think I'd mention where I was having the most pain cause if it's not being 'covered' by the stimulator, they can reprogram it and you'll feel more stimulation in those areas. It doesn't take very long. Why wait another 3 months in agony? That's what I did ~ I told them early! And if it needs reprogramming again on down the line, so be it.

Best of luck tomorrow. God bless. Hugs, Lee

Lightbulb ideas....

Leesa ~ regarding the nausea, I think several here are due to them titrating off the heavy pain meds they've been on for so long.....
at least this is the case for some.....
Were you able to titrate off of alot of your meds back when you had your SCS?
I'm still kind of in that phase, cuz mine doesn't cover 100%, but it sure does take away a good 75% or so....... time will tell i guess

I too have an appt with my Rep coming up and some of the Q's I'm going to be asking (besides the tweaking) are things like:
Thinking in terms of the future or any potential problems.....

1/ What steps are we supposed to take if something suddenly goes wrong with our SCS and we need attention ASAP....

2/ Do we have to pay for another $100,000 unit when our batteries life comes to an end....

3/ Manufacture Guarantees? Replacing worn out controllers?
Things like this......

And also in thinking in terms of the future, at my upcoming Dr visit, I want to ask him similar Q's and what to do if he has since retired or something....

I'm kind of wanting some reassurance on what to do if we end up in some sort of unforseen crisis....

I didn't get any sort of in-depth brochure on these issues or anything regarding these types of issues? Did you guys?
All I got was a very brief handbook on the basics of operating the unit.
