Oh NOOOO Vanna
Vanna Im so sorry to hear that your appointment had to be cancelled:mad:that is SO frustrating I know, been there and bought the T-shirt too..... I do hope you get to see your Dr on the 8th Feb and that the weather doesnt hamper that one.
Take care Jackie:hug: |
Vanna: glad to hear from you again. I sure do hope they figure out what the problemo is with your unit. I would be reluctant to think that sleeping on your stomach would cause the problem...seems like it may be more a problem with the unit. Have you had to resort to pain meds. to deal with the untimely demise of your SCS? Hang in there:hug::hug:

Pulling for you!
Hi Vanna- Pulling for you in this rescheduled appt for the 8th, hoping it happens on schedule so you can begin to learn of the goings on inside there. Sending up prayers,

After waiting a month, I finally got to meet with my Stim Rep today! My lumbar neurostimulator, which I uses continuously (except when driving) started sputtering intermittently one day for a few hours then stimulation halted altogether with all 6 of my programs. My rep did a test and saw that not only the 6 programs I had did not respond, most of the programs would not work. There were a few she could try to use with the leads that were still connected. She feels the culprit is that the leads had moved from where the connection is at the battery site because the stimulation from newer programs are spot on.
When she mentioned of any possible trauma by the battery site -- I suddenly REMEMBERED!!! Just the night before it stopped working correctly, my young son had snuck into bed with me during the night and had kicked me right on the battery site while he was sleeping. I remembered how I woke up screaming and crying from the pain! THAT must have been what done it. So funny how I completely forgot that instance!! I have a couple of new programs that are working so ---YAY. BUT, time will tell if they are as sufficient as my old programs were. I'm hoping not to compromise as my previous programs were awesome!! She did ask that i keep the stimulation on low....as the probability of getting jolted from changes in position is high if the leads are not totally in alignment. :( I'll be getting a script mailed to me for an X-ray, just in case the new programs are not suffice enough and surgery is needed. At this point, SOME stim is better than none!!! Hope all is well!!!!! Vanna |
Hi Vanna
Gosh Im sorry to read that something was amiss with your SCS.....not good. I hope that these new programmes will do the trick for you. Its amazing how we get used to having some and are comfortable with them....I hope now that they continue to help you with your pain. Its good that you are getting an xray too. That will give the full picture. I had to have my battery replaced after 6 months:eek:yep not a typo.....as it wouldnt recharge, so I hope that yours will be ok and that you wont need surgery..... take care Jackie:) |
Thanks, Jackey! Well, I may have gotten excited too soon....... my 3 new programs only lasted a couple of hours. They all of a sudden became intermittent and then ZILCH on the stimulation! I called my Rep and although she was bummed about it, was not surprised. I will see my Pain Management doc March 8th with my X-rays and see where I go from here.
 Vanna |
Oh My.
You have to wait till March 8? Well, at least they are getting you scheduled and getting that xray right away. This is good. Let's see, you've had your units how long? My memory is a mess! :o This is the first time you've had to deal with any sort of 'maintenance' issues right? Well, my hope is that the xray will clearly show what needs rectified. If it's a matter of the lead coming loose from the battery site, that shouldn't be too terrible, right? They would just have to make a small incision right at the battery site to reconnect the lead back to the IPG. That would actually be pretty similar to what I had done recently. They made a small incision right at the battery site and he pulled out the lead that had migrated and put a 'plug' where that lead connected to the battery. That was it! I didn't get another lead placed in there because we decided I'm doing just fine with just the one lead. For some amazing reason, it seems to cover both legs! The incision site was slightly tender for a few days and that was it! I'm prayin for ya Vanna! This will be ok - I really believe so Rae  |
