Just happened to notice my lower back after drying myself off from my shower, and it looks like one of my battery packs has shifted. The one on my right side (lumbar SCS) still feels like it's snug, laying flat in my upper hip, but the one on my left (cervical SCS) is looking like it's really sticking out and isn't flat. Could this be why it's harder to charge than the other...the charging unit has a hard time holding a connection with the battery as it starts beeping at the slightest movement I make? The other battery unit holds the charging unit on just fine until it's fully recharged.

How does one know if/when it's nec. to go in and reimplant the battery pack? Will there be a lot of scar tissue to deal with if they have to go in? It's been in me since 8/10. Any thoughts/comments/suggestions???

Have you bumped the pocket site or lay on it cock-eyed? Mine seems to be shifting a bit also, I noticed just yesterday after I bumped it trying to get comfortable in bed, and I layed on it wrong temporarily.
One of the corners sticks up higher than the rest and it takes awhile before I can aline the charger unit just perfectly to get a good signal.

Is the area irritated or in any pain?

Well, my lower back has been hurting a bit lately so hard to tell if battery pack is adding to it. I made an appt. with pain mgmt. dr. who did the procedure for next week, so will see what he says. Also, hoping to get some free flector patch samples to keep me going until this botox wears off and gets out of my system.

I had my thoracic battery pack moved, which was initially in my right hip/buttock area and it bothered me quite a bit. It turned and poked out, etc., especially when I sat down. Which would hurt when it hit the car seat or office chair since it was poking out and those seats are curved. But the cervical one on the left side seemed more stable. So when they had to change out the thoracic leads, they moved the battery to the front/side area....it is better there!

I wish the cervical one had been placed in the front/side too! I actually wanted it moved because it is harder to reach back with my RSD arm (wish I had thought about that a little better), but the insurance company wouldn't approve moving that one at the time...gotta love it!

They would not approve the motion to provide better access to the stable battery due to a lack of medical necessity.... it is as if I am reading the denial of that portion of the request right from the letter. I am sorry about that nuance which hits all families in one way or another. [you'd think Congress, if they were going to hit insurance as an issue they would have taxed the h@#$@#$ out of executive bonuses to provide care for the needful folk, the insurance executives do not need those bonuses anyway].

Fiona, is there no end to the troubles..... I mean, after all, the twins seem to be acting a bit like two year olds do they not? Perhaps some counselling for the twins might be in order? [OK that was off base] I was just trying to give you a smile. But goodness, my friend, how can it be you are developing another issue? This is awful, and I would check with my doc if it were me..... either than or get used to wearing a rubber band around the middle to hold said misbehaving twin in place. But then that would probably not work anyway.....

Thanks for the laugh Mark Well, they are about 1 1/2 years old so we're probably heading into the "terrible two's". I'm just gonna wait and see what the dr. says next week as I don't want to jump the gun on having another issue to think about...I'll worry about it tomorrow, repeat to self...

I received a copy of the letter the 2nd pain mgmt. dr. has sent to the 1st pain mgmt. dr. (the first being the one who did the SCS implants and then the botox injections). The 2nd pain mgmt. dr.'s plan is to let the botox shots wear off (said I had adverse reaction), then he'll try steroid trigger point injections "under US guidance" (US = ultrasound??)

His differential diagnosis for those of us who just can't learn about enough medical stuff: Bilateral shoulder impingement syndrome or CRPS secondary to shoulder injury (CRPS = ???)

On top of that, I'm back on antibiotics dealing with another GI infection, due to my immune system deficiency problem. Fortunately not Cipro this time, just Flagyl.

If anything, I'm always good for another weird thing to ponder

If I didn't know better, I'd think someone was trying to stop me from doing my blog!?

Oh, PLEEZ, excuse me, but this is usually done in an OR with Fluoroscopy...... thus is a nice piece of evidence established regarding placement and such. The sonogram/ultrasound? I would think the image would be far from clear.
