for the Stim to reach the face/ head the leads need to be placed in the face on one of the 3 trigeminal nerve branches or near the base of skull and spine where the Trig nerve starts to branch . you would probably need to have another PNS implanted or at the very least more leads added for the face. my friend Kim has bi lat.. face pain on both sides of face and she has 2 PNS units one for each side. it can be done.
I have found botox has helped plenty of face pain folks with the t.n. pain and also headaches.I Hope and pray it helps you. :grouphug:

Hi Rae -
So, i got the botox shots last Thursday. That was interesting for sure! All the needles hurt (around 20), some not so much and others quite a bit (depended on the spot). Anyway, the dr told me that my head would probably hurt worse for about a week and then I should see if it helps in about two weeks, maybe less. My headaches haven't really gotten worse, which I am happy about, but I continued with my "normal" bad headaches and even a migraine on Saturday.
He told me that only a couple of his patients had an allergic reaction to it. I broke out in a rash the night that I got them and again last night - benadryl helps! I really hope I am not allergic to this stuff as I really need some relief!!
I can tell that I got botox by looking at my forehead  My mom and sister said it is wasted on me because I don't have any wrinkles - lol!
Still crossing my fingers!

Thanks for the info and prayers. I appreciate it! It's a little soon to see if the botox is going to work. I sure hope it does!! I will ask the doctor about injecting some where it will help my face. He covered quite a bit on my head and neck. He said if I tolerate it ok, he can add more and hit additional spots on my shoulder. I have pain going down the left side of my neck to my shoulder (have a pinched nerve in my neck and RSD in my shoulder/arm :() so maybe then he could hit the other spots for my face too.

Thanks again!
Nanc

Thanks for the update Nanc - do keep us posted as this goes along.
I sure hope this works! Burntmarshmallow gave some positive feedback regarding this, and I hope you are among the ones she speaks of.

Not sure if you followed Fiona's thread(s) on her botox experience. Unfortunately hers wasn't a very good outcome. I hope she sees this thread. If not, send her a PM and she'd be glad to go into more detail.

Putting this in prayer mode!

Rae
