Had a very sad Easter

Sorry haven't posted in a while...when it rains, it pours! Had to put one of our two dogs, Murphy, to sleep on Easter Sunday :Sob::Sob: We think he'd been having small strokes and by Sunday, after my husband left for his family's easter dinner, he went downhill. Fortunately neighbor came and put him in my vehicle (too heavy for me to lift) and I took him to emergency vet place. He was comfortable and I brought him home for my husband to bury back with our other dogs in the apple grove.

Has been one heck of an emotional rollercoaster ride as of late. I was crying, thinking of the significance of his dying on the day of our Lord's resurrection, and was comforted knowing he was running and playing in fields of flowers and will be waiting for us, along with all our other dogs who have passed on.

Is so hard to lose such a beloved companion but cannot imagine my life without canines. Was fortunate and found a puppy a few days later as my other dog was obviously grieving. So, now back into the days of raising a pup and keeping everything that's below 3 feet lifted high up. My shoelaces are taking a beating :D

Had my shoulder CT scans done on Good Friday,so hopefully will get to hear the results when I see doc. in couple of weeks. Sorry to be such a downer but hard to talk to husband as he and Murphy were best buds and this is very hard on him as he's already worried about his job.

Please continue to pray for us as we travel this rollercoaster of a road. Where is that calorie-busting dessert when ya' need it!! Think I'll sit here for a while at look at those delicious pictures posted by Rae.

Hello fionab

I am sorry you lost your pet. I do know how painful that is. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. Your pet, and my scruffy, are now drinking from the same water bowl, romping together. Sometimes all you can do is cry, until there are no more tears to cry. Our pets, are family, and it hurts. Please know that I am thinking about you.:( ginnie

Dear Fiona, Loss is Loss, no Matter the Shape

I remember this little ball of fluff who came waggling up to the door of our apartment as I was studying law during school one afternoon. I heard a mewling cry on the front step, and went, there finding a pup who would for many years thereafter be friend, protector, consoler in time of grief to each of our family, for he became an important part of it. Then one night his time came near. I lay on the floor with our little guy through the night as he neared his end and he snuggled next to me. Then, he was gone. We all cried. A beautiful, little, intelligent, MUTT had come through our family for a good many years then was gone.

Yes, those times are hard,
Praying that you and your hubby be consoled,

Thanks for your kind words. Has been a rough day, donating his stuff to another who can use it for their dog as we're "downsizing" to smaller dogs now given my health situation. Is much easier to handle smaller dogs and all their accessories.

One of the most delightful things I look forward to when reaching heaven is to have all my dogs run back into my arms and I'll be covered from head to toe in wet, drooly kisses:)

....This is exactly how I picture it will be, Fiona. No doubt we'll be reunited with our little friends.
It's just so sad. You know, I'm thinkin that it holds a special significance that Murphy went on Easter sunday, the resurrection day. It actually puts a joyful little twist to such a sad time.

Sending you a special  (((HUG)))

hello fionab

I believe we see our pets again too. Why would God have chosen to save all the animals on the Ark if they weren't special to him? They have souls, personality, and an intimate way of reaching our souls too. Hope today, you get lots of hugs. ginnie

Good point Ginnie! Nobody could ever convince me otherwise. Just looking into their eyes proves that they have more than simply this carnal life. Especially my horses.....their eyes are big enuf to actually 'see' beyond. Many have referred to the eyes being windows to the soul. SO TRUE.

Hi Rrae

so glad you believe in that too. Looking into the eyes of your pet, you can see their souls. I only hope that I am as good as my pet thinks I am...
Have a good day Rrae, and I will keep our grieving friend in my prayers tonight. You learn to live with their abscence, but you never do forget their love. The bond stays with you. Just like love does. ginnie
