Default Just too much to handle!

We finally got the CT results back on my shoulders and shows bilateral shoulder impingement so my 2nd pain dr. is going to do steroid shots with help of imaging, this Tues., so he gets the steroid/lidocaine exactly into where it needs to go. My shoulders have been very painful lately and I've had to put my blog on hold as being on computer aggravates things. Doesn't help that I took a fall lately (talked about it on Lisa's thread).

I also continue having hip pain which SCS has never been able to reach, so will probably be getting CT scans of those.

Getting old is not fun

I was given Morphine tablets in small dosage (15 mg). to take when pain not tolerable. Does help with pain but feel I need to have caffeine IV to stay awake so have stopped them and keep them for the really bad days.

Now hearing husband may be getting permanently laid off and I may lose my good insurance coverage. I'm not up for a move (I'm sure you can relate, Mark), and have no family or friends locally to help with packing, moving etc.

Where's that rum

....................... Here ya go mate~ I brought several bottles cuz I think we all could use a snort
Man Fiona, as if the pain issues weren't enough. You had a fall?! oh my Lord.
I'm so sorry you've been slammed with all this!
When would your husband be laid off if this happens? I'm hanging on to the 'may' you put when you said he 'may' be getting laid off. If there's even a sliver of hope to hang on to, let's grab onto it! We'll get our little prayer chain goin on this.
I know exactly the feeling of potentially losing work. The little company I work for is disolving (big Corp continues to rule), so I may be out by the end of this year. 25 years I've been on this job.
My concern if we lose our current benefits is - would a new insurance carrier even cover our SCS battery replacements? The 'pre-existing thing'....OR (I think this has been brought up before. Since our units are considered DME's then it should be covered (similar to a pacemaker)

Your husband could probably take unemployment benefits until something else comes along. And I would hope it would include state funded medical coverage. I'm not really sure how all this works, but we have a forum here specific to layoffs, unemployment, etc.

I sure hope those steroid injections prove successful.

Please hang in there.....we never know what lies around the corner.

Caring deeply for you my friend....
Rae

Talking Eva

I'm so glad you had a chuckle! We all need to laugh once in awhile.
Sometimes we get pretty goofy on here......just gotta let loose. It's a wonderful release.

I'm glad things are looking up a bit. You are always in my prayers.
I know how frustrating it is to write a good long post and then lose it. I always click that 'remember me' button up top where we log on, but once in awhile my laptop will play a nasty trick on me and poof the post implodes into cyberspace.

Heart Oh, Yes, I have fallen Prey

to Poof the Magic Dragon who from time to time makes a good lot of work disappear from the computer in the blink of an eye.

Fiona, how terribly awful regarding your husband's work and your CT results and pain and..... well, all that is being manifest by way of "hard to handle" in your life..... and interfering with the ongoing work of your blog from time to time and right now.

You are most definitely in my prayers,

Default saw dr. today and

didn't get good news. Thought I'd be told I just have "you're getting old" arthritis in my shoulders, but was told I have arthritis on all my shoulder bones so he's suspecting autoimmune cause. He says the arthritis looks like the shoulders of someone who'd been doing gymnastics for decades. I assured him that wasn't the case as I flunked cartwheels

He did the shoulder shots via imaging, but weren't very painful at all. Did feel slight nausea and dizziness for a while. Is sore now that lidocaine is wearing off. He gave me depomedrol along with the lidocaine. Says he suspects autoimmune origin as I'm also complaining of ongoing hip pain that SCS doesn't touch. I go get another round of CT's this Fri. on hips. He says it may be a little painful as he's having them inject my hips so they can do contrast. He says he suspects that images will also come back as not normal arthritis. Not sure where we'll go from there as one can only get so many steroid shots annually.

Husband still gloomy over work situation and will maybe find out more today. He's in process of looking for other work, which may have us moving to Houston or Phoenix or who knows where. I feel bad because my health problems put such limitations on where he can find employment as I need to be able to access good medical doctors.

Trusting the Lord will work all this out (and a shot of rum doesn't hurt ). Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers

Default Fiona :)

Hi Fiona

Im sorry you didnt get better news today I do hope that you will be able to get something to help with this pain that you are having to endure. Why is it that we try to fix one thing and something else is ready to pounce around the corner

I can relate to how you are feeling about your husbands employment prospects. Unfortunately, my husband has been unemployed for quite some time now....here in Ireland the building trade just crashed and of course thats what he worked in!!!!....so its been horrendous trying to source some work. Thankfully he has a trade and can fall back on that etc, but since Xmas its been VERY quiet and quite literally 'getting under my feet' so one of us is about to flip!!! no guessing who that will be

But I just hope and pray that your husband will get something soon and that you wont have to move or at least if you do that you will find somewhere that you can have your health looked after like you are now.

Good luck with your CT on your hips too. Im having one done Friday 19th April on my head to see why I am getting this headaches which have been happening to me for a few years now! Always something eh?!?!?!

Jackie

Default Hi Jackie

My cousin in Scotland who is also in building trade has been having hard time. He's not the worrying type and spends his off time at the pub (if you know what I mean) He's not the type to save for a rainy day...would rather drink away the day.

I sure hope they find the source of your headaches. Is it possibly allergy related...the reason I ask is before I found out I had severe sinusitis I felt like I always had a headache. Have you seen a doctor that specializes in sinuses? A friend of mine thought she had migraines until she moved into a different apartment and they stopped. She realized that there must have been something in her old apartment (mold, fungus??) that was causing her headaches. She had gotten to the point she was getting migraine shots in her neck and after she moved, no more headache. Just a thought.

Default Thanks Fiona

I have been to see a neurologist back in November who told me it was migraine. I have this distortion in my left eye plus headaches every day. Some days, mostly evenings, I cant see at all. Have been to see eye Specialists who said nothing wrong with my vision and she doesnt see anything 'sinister' there. The Neurologist was a right pain in the ***!!! At the time I was on Amitrypteline tabs which, coincidentally this distortion only started about 3 months AFTER I started the tablets....anyway he told me it was all due to the painkillers Ive been on for the past 7 years for my back problem and to SUCK IT UP and stop taking all the tablets but to up the dosage of the Ami..........I was shocked....he told me to go cold turkey and forget about all the meds. I said easier said than done. Anyway I decided to try to reduce the tabs and up the dosage of the Ami....Oh my goodness it just got progressively worse, so I DIDNT go back to that quack, came off the Ami altogether and it eased a bit, but hasnt gone completely. So my Pain Consultant ordered this CT 'just to make sure' and see if it throws out anything. But yes sinus could also be an option. I dont generally suffer with any allergies but who knows!!

Ill keep you updated anyway. Thanks for that

As regards your friends in Scotland, I can imagine what is at the end of that glass he drinks from each day! Thankfully my husband isnt at all like that, we do look after our finances for the rainy days and thankfully our children are grown up now so we dont have all that stress and worry too. But its tough, for everyone who is unemployed no matter what their circumstances are!

Jackie
