Hello

Hi, my name is Sheila. I am a Chronic back pain sufferer of 15 years, I have tried everything known to man and amnow just getting to do the PP Trial after going through the SCS Trial which was absolutely horrible for me because of the amount of nerve damage I have. I am trying to get the most information needed and so far, I am remaining very hopefully after what I have seen. I look forward to seeing and talking with all of you. So, not only will I be looking for information about the pump I am also here for any of you to ask questions you may have because I have gone through and been through all of it except for the pain pump. the hard part is that I also work in healthcare and then the nurse myself, so this is very frustrating and hard for me too.

I am awaiting the trial for the pain pump and I'm very excited after 15 years of grueling pain. he is my last bit of hope and it's good to see positive feedback. Is it hard to wean off the oral narcotics after you get the pump in? and does it take a long time to get the pump set just right?

I won't bore you with the number of surgeries that I've had and where. I just dont think it matters besides I stopped counting after ten and chronic pain is chronic pain. I do have a pain pump and it has been wonderfull for me. I hope that anyone with any questions please don't hesitate to ask me. It's a wonderfull day and age we live in and I hope you can keep your pain levels down to a low roar.

Just wondering. I just returned from Ohio State Medical and was examined by a doctor that trained at the Mayo Clinic In Rochester Minn. which is very highly regarded. This is my 7th doctor. I also went to the Cleveland Clinic which again, is highly regarded. Anyway, Ohio State and all the others except one said surgery would not help. I have always had my pain meds prescribed by my family doctor. ( Fentaynl Patch 75 mcg. change every 60 hours ) now I am going to see a pain specialist and I am thinking about the pain pump if the pain doctor agrees. MY question, does it hurt when they refill it? Thanks in advance for any and all responses.

So glad you posted. I too have had multiple fusions and surgeries. I just completed the psych evaluation for SCS where the doc mentioned a pain pump as an alternative if the SCS trial was not effective. I am sure that you have as much scar tissue as I do and that concerns me as to the lead placement and chance of them remaining stationary. I have also been told that SCS would handle the testicular, leg and foot pain, but might not relieve much of my back pain and would be a success if 50% of my pain was reduced where the pain pump would be more effective.
Question: the pump seems a good amount larger in size. I was not told where it is implanted. Where did they place yours and does the placement affect you in any way? Have you received greater than 50% relief?
Thank you for your response in advance.
